Five Years and I Still Haven't Finished this Game

User Rating: 7.5 | Devil May Cry 3 PS2
This game is still sitting on my shelf, I have the save file to the last level, and I can't, for the love of God, get past Dante's brother. I have picked this up a few times since putting it down, and no luck whatsoever. I realise games shouldn't be easy, but after this one, I swore I wouldn't play another Devil May Cry game again, and I haven't.

The game is very difficult, and I have it set on a medium/regular setting. I always start at the baseline, and from the beginning, I was not doing well. In most games, I avoid using health as much as possible. Some games reward you by allowing the character to heal him/herself, but unfortunately in this game, it's down to using health items or creative kills. Maybe I never got a handle of the controls, it wouldn't be the first time, but I really never got past the button-mashing phase of this game, and managed to get to the end, but am now stuck with an incomplete game.

Overall, the story was very solid, the graphics and gameplay are, honestly great, but challenging. I liked some of the additional cast of characters that are throne in, but at some points, wasn't sure if they were really contributing or not to the overall effect.

I'd argue that this is still a must-play, despite my inability to complete it. I get an unsavoury feeling when I can't complete a game, and should probably just get rid of this one entirely. I'd suggest playing it and coming to your own conclusion. Though, from what I've heard, it's good I've sworn off of Devil May Cry games.
