Don't hate it until you play It.

User Rating: 7.5 | Devil May Cry 2 PS2
Devil May Cry 2 had some big shoes to fill, with the class genre defining predesessor. and while it comes up short, it is still a good game regardless.

Im not one to give away any storyline, but this game you are yet again the demon hunting bad@$$ known as Dante. The game has virtually the same combat system as before, no big difference. But to me the game comes up short in the story department. This story comes out of nowhere with some egotistical maniac trying to take over the world (original isn't it), and nothing else. And this guy has absolutly nothing to do with the previous storyline. Like i said, I wont go into details, but the story is weak and comes out of nowhere. The ending of the game while not disappointing, was confusing, and wasn't even answered in the 3rd game.
The next flaw within this game comes in its extremely easy difficulty, DMC 1 wasn't hard on normal, but was near impossible on Dante Must Die Mode. This game i maybe died 10 times in the whole game, and beat the final boss on the 1st try, there are few games that i can say ive done that to. And DMD mode on this was equivelent to maybe hard on the first.
A few other things i noticed that might have made people hate this game was Dante's new attitude. He goes from trash talking bada$$ to strong silent type, dont know what was up with the change, but it was definitly for the worse. And a lot of people probably saw Lucia as an annoyance, but thats just because Trish doesn't show herself in the story, i actually enjoyed Lucia, as here combat techniques were a change from Dantes. And last, was bad voice overs, i could care less about this, but many people do.
Overall, this is definitly a good game that despite all the badreviews, still deserves to becalled Devil May Cry, but Capcom should havejust worked out the kinks a little better, and the mediocre story shouldn't affect the good gameplay that this game has.
