Difficulty:
Just Right
Time Spent:
20 to 40 Hours
The Bottom Line:
"Highly addictive"
I rate on a 0-10 scale so 5 is average and so on.

This game was a bit more different than what I expected. It is so freaking addictive but it takes a bit to learn how to play. In the first 3 hours of the game, you might be put off by the difficulty how smart the AI is. However, after getting the firaxis points to buy more and more augmentations that actually greatly improve your gameplay, the game gets easier and a lot better. You can have multiple choices while you are doing your quests or just exploring. However stealth is the key point. This game became a stealth RPG for me instead of too much action because the funnest way to play this game is to sneak behind someone and stun them with a stun gun.

You get energy bars to use some of your augmentations like becoming invisible, silent, fall down without damage or even take down craploads of enemies in one hit. You ALWAYS will be using your special abilities instead of just using your guns, which is awesome and not just an add-on to a average shooting game. You also pick up items that can replenish your energy bars so you can tactically plan out your ways into an area.

Another feature in this game is hacking, which I found was a bit lackluster after a while, however it is pretty different and it even lets you pick what to hack in higher levels of hacking. I liked this better than Mass Effect or Fallout's hacking.

The story of this game is in a near future world where you are Adam Jensen, a former police officer that has been extremely injured but brought back to perfect condition with augmentations added to his body, becoming a half-robot. You have special powers that you use to get to places that you otherwise can't get to as human. The story is very good and it immerses you into the world of augmentations and discovering whether or not being human is important. The story has a few twists that could negatively or even positively affect the outcome of a few situations. However, the ending is the same regardless. You get to pick 1 out of 4 endings at the end, no matter how you play the game. However, the 4 endings were cinematic and almost brought me to tears. However I just saved before the ending so I watched all 4 without playing the game more than once, and all 4 endings were different in some ways. However, overall I would've loved some more backstory with the riots that went on about citizens going against augmenting humans.

The bosses in this game are pretty challenging, it's not bosses where you just shoot them straight until they're dead. Sometimes though the bosses might piss you off because of how hard they are. But the most disappointing thing was the last boss, it was extremely easy to defeat and I wasn't even sure if I actually won because it was too quick.

Like I said, there are many varieties in this game, so are the weapons and items you use in-game. The inventory system might be a hassle and pretty unrealistic, but it allows you to not be able to carry everything and there is no number weight. The places that this game brings you to are awesome. Detroit, China, Montreal and an glacier island. I loved all the locations and environments provided, especially China with the prostitutes and pole dancers.

The voice acting in this game is EXTREMELY top notch, and it makes everything so much better with the cinematic graphics and the orange-yellow futuristic tint that the whole game gives. Sometimes people say graphics isn't important at all, well I think it is VERY important, not the most important but very important in terms of immersion that brings you into the game along with story and voice acting. The textures in this game somehow looks different than textures in other games, they look extremely detailed yet I don't think they are at all. But it looks great nonetheless.

An exploit I found in this game was that I could just kill the friendly police officers, take their weapons and ammo and then hide, and then go back and kill some more and then repeat, keep doing that and I'll be able to stack up so credits in-game which is pretty unrealistic since the police don't come and chase you after you run away for a certain distance.

But after all, this game is a masterpiece with just some flaws that doesn't really break the game. After 32 hours of finishing this lengthy RPG, I cannot wait to play a sequel and also the Missing Link DLC!

Pros:
Amazing story and voice acting
Multiple ways to go through an area
Different ways to play the game with augmentations
Some of the most awesome abilities in-game
Gives different environments and unique (yes, unique)graphics design
Interesting hacking and inventory system (could use some tweaking though)

Cons:
A few exploits
A few missing story pieces
Final Boss TOO EASY
Ending a bit disappointing
