Engrossing and addictive but with some issues. Feel like a lot of potential wasn't realized.
Ammunition is too scarce for a guy supposed to be the top agent for a private billion $$ corporation. Enemies are very accurate with weapons which coupled with the laggy control mechanism leads to some frustration for me. Your character is just flatout fragile. A couple rounds from deadly accurate enemies and your toast so I really think this is a game best played on a PC where controls, at least to me, are much tighter. There really is little room for error.
I just love the ambience, music and environment design even if the graphical presentation is 7 years behind the PS3 times. For me, the gameplay frustrations center around the various approaches to each situation. The shooter style is clearly the most prevalent approach but secondary options just aren't obvious enough. Rather than running around figuring out another way to go about your business, it would be nice to have supportive narrative from your in-game tech support guys to help you identify these alternative angles on each situation. And really, this game just isn't a shooter. The mechanics aren't polished enough to make it satisfying.
Regardless, I will continue my adventures until I finish the game or the shortcomings disinterest me - which is a common issue for me! I seriously loved the original franchise, which means admitting I'm old enough to have played them upon their release back in the late 90's i think.

P.S. I wish the Dark Souls review had been as forthcoming regarding the games short-comings so kudos to the reviewer here for what I believe is a very honest and thorough analysis. Is it an 8.5? in the way that Killzone 3 was an 8.5? I really don't think so. Production values aren't even in the same game let alone league. I think my 8.0 was generous.
