A fun multiplayer game hidden in a single player storyline.

User Rating: 8 | Destrega PS
Like many fighting games out there, Destrega was released on the market with a back cover that told how much single player options the game had. It is a shame really, because behind the transparent single player story mode lies a pretty solid action fighting game for 2 players.

Destrega is not a traditional fighting game in that it doesnt really require any fancy combo twisting and controller precision to pull off the best moves in the game (there a few very very secret moves most players dont know about that do, but thats something for gamefaqs :P). It is a simple three attack configuration, fast, medium and strong hits that are put together in different combinations to produce different attacks.

Also unlike most fighting games, the players are not restricted to close quarter fighting, most of the arenas are probably 5 to 10 times larger than a traditional fighting area, and on top of that, there are differing terrains that you can use to your advantage. Destrega is a fast paced game of tactics and positioning more so than a hand to hand beat em up game.

Add in a great electric guitar based sound track and some of the original playstations more impressive graphics and you have a pretty solid, fun and easy to learn multiplayer fighting game. It is a shame the sequal never became a reality.

Check it out if you havent already!
