Almost, but not quite

So I forked out the hefty price of the game, knowing quite well there'll be a similar price to pay for the season pass, and while I can say that I don't exactly regret buying Destiny 2, I'm just not sure I'll play it that long at all. The game has amazing graphics, superb and satisfactory gun play or mechanics, epic music here and there, and plays very smoothly, but other than that, it doesn't really have anything else going for it.

The mute alter ego, or your mute player feels a bit weird for me, especially when there's a robot around that has to speak for my character for some reason. Some of the writing is a little cringe-worthy or just a tad naive; like the game or its characters take themselves seriously, but it hasn't quite earned the right to do so, yet, if that makes sense? So some of the dialogue comes off as cringe-inducing or a little naive. And none of the battles feel "epic", even if the game's engine, graphics and music have all the groundwork laid for epic battles. Heck, even the parts where you acquire your first class, while slightly epic, especially with the music, they just weren't done well enough in my opinion. The "follow the eagle" part had some of the best music I've ever heard in my life; those moments at the beginning of the story, when you were slightly vulnerable, were amazing; I only wish that part lasted a bit longer, without becoming tedious (which is hard, I know!), and felt more meaningful and fun. Finally, from what I heard in video reviews about the only currently available raid, I don't even wanna try it; apparently one of the raids of Destiny 1 was like ten times better than this raid.

Destiny 2 feels like a Borderlands game with insane graphics and much better gun mechanics, and which--unlike Borderlands--takes itself seriously but doesn't quite hit the mark to earn the right to take itself seriously. It is a game with the highest potential I've ever seen for a shooter, but also the vastest difference between its status quo and its potential! Meaning, it can be ten times better than what it is today but alas, that means that it is ten times worse than it could have been. If Bungie wants a specific first step or "next action" from this obscure review of mine: Focus on creating truly epic battles. By epic, I don't mean extra hard or difficult; I mean, big, even huge, maybe in the open world, and requires specific strategies by a team of players to overcome or beat, requires synchronicity or coordinated gameplay, with amazing epic music that matches what's going on, with fallen comrades who need to be saved and there's just enough time to save them or the spawn time is high and costly. Epic battles, Bungie. Start with those, and not just in raids.
