Kevin Van Ord gives us an in-depth look at Demon's Souls, from the recent Today On the Spot episode!
...awesome awesome game. little correction: if you die you are returned to the last archstone you passed, not to the nexus
Man my bro have been trying to defeat the flamelurker, but he just canīt!!! I told him to train but he gets bored...xD Anyway, GeordieTheScot you are right!!! xD
If you're seriously saying Dragon Age deserves a 7.5 you haven't played it.
"Too bad for Dragon origins...This game will steal tons of players from Origins for sure !" (nickboy333) Dude, youīre totally right... Demonīs Souls has better graphics (much better), is more complex, less obvious and a real challenge for every gamer. Is hard for me to understand why DAO has 9.0... I think 9.0 is ok for Demonīs Souls, and DAO deserves a 7.5, the rating system is getting very soft...
@Gooshnads I agree with the Fool's Idol and I find it hilarious how many people complain about its difficulty, but if you had just taken the time to explore, you could've easily ran into the old zombie guy and killed him (he didn't even no I was there until it was too late :P) Although I wouldn't be able to know as much on the Tower Knight because I got a very helpful, but random, blue phantom in my game to help me and he went down in under two minutes. Still, LOVING this game
Armored spider was not HARD.... Fool's Idol was stupid easy too (if you killed the old man up on the top right area so he doesnt shoot arrows at you) Hard was Tower Knight (the first time you fight him at least =P)
when is this game coming to the uk it looks so good will have to import it
Good vid but I don't get why this is supposed to be "in depth". He talks for a couple minutes about 1 % of the game and then its over :( Anyway...Eager to get this... Too bad for Dragon origins...This game will steal tons of players from Origins for sure !
I got this couple months back (JAP import, I'm in the UK) and this game has sucked up more hours of my time than any other single player game out there.... yes I've played this longer than the 143 hours i put into FF7 2 play throughs... one thing havent mentioned much on GS's coverage is the good/bad feature in the game, you cannot see all there is to see in a single playthrough due to this feature, its a HUGE part of the game and makes the continuious playthroughs so much fun, you will WANT to play this over and over, especially as it only gets harder and harder..... you think your first play is tough, wait till you start again :)
OK, so ive been playing for about a week now, my judgment: Buy this game. don't think about it, just do it. your happiness will thank you long time
when i get this game ill count how many times i died till i beat the game and post it here:)
Im waiting until dragon age: origins. Then ill choose which looks better, but for sure this looks sweet.
i need this game!
I gotta say...after seeing the reviews for this game and seeing their excitement about the game I had to go out and buy it to see what the hype is all about. I have NEVER had soooooo much fun getting my ass kicked lol....I have honestly died sooooo many times but for some crazy reason I can't seem to put the controller down. It's been a long time since I have been pulled in by a game like I have with this one......Definitely a MUST BUY if you can find a copy in the stores lol
This is the reason I am buying my ps3. Unbelievable game play and graphics, this game is just SO diverse. I mean, how many games offer negative co op? Awesome, Just Awesome
dunno if i want this or uncharted two... BUT =] OLD SPICE =] lol
i want this game, but idk if i have the money bec im probably buying modern warfare 2 and uncharted 2 ugh.
Looks very original. The multiplayer tip thing, kick ass. We need more new ideas in gaming these days. Plus rpg's is fun, so this game looks pretty nice
Im going to get this one now!
WANT! man this game looks mint!
feckn awesome ... got the asian import myself about a month back & this is leagues ahead of anything in this genre incl, dare I say it, Diablo 3! (when it eventually surfaces)
Thanks for this GameSpot. I am very much intrigued by this game have heard about it a week or so ago - not normally in genre I would consider but the atmosphere and general play experience seems very interesting. Might consider this if I get myself a PS3. Also, Chris Watters(sp?) is a really good choice for hosting OTS btw. Haven't really watched it since the days of Rich Gallup and then Jeff Gerstmann hosting it.
i think i just found the game that convinces me I need a PS3. damnit... now i need $300 for the PS3 and $60 for the game.
whats up with ppl getting discouraged by the trial n error part? its a friggin dungeon crawler, what did u guys expect? hello kitty: island adventures? hee! hee! jamon!
@kcpp2b You're missing the point. It's not trial and error gameplay, it's action RPG gameplay that you have to employ a bit of trial and error in order to get through. But that's true for EVERY game you play it's just that in this game the error is punished a little more harshly. Once you get great at this game it's less error and more trial anyway.
man y do i have to b broke!!!!
Kevin looks a little embarrassed about admitting his infatuation with Demon's Souls. Hee hee.
But can anyone tell me who or what the player is? I have read some details on the background of the game, and everything suggests that the player is either a demon craving for souls, or a lost/fallen warrior or more precisely a revenant that craves for souls.
I really wish that this game would be on the PC too. All that coding looks very compatible with the PC.
If there are any sophisticated games to be looked over by GameSpot, Kevin vanOrd is the choice staffer to do so.
Great info on the game, thank you Kevin.
That's kewl if you like it but I don't see the fun in trial and error gameplay...
This game is awesome, online and offline. I imported it 2 months ago. Just got my platinum trophy yesterday!! A must-have!!
one more day! XD
Nice, I am definitely Not a fan of having to restart over and over again, but this game looks so good i might look past that little annoyance and buy this as soon as i can.... The one thing that really impressed me was the co-op thing, that is something i look for in any game, especially an incredibly hard one like this.
Love the online features. Looks a lot of fun to play, really, I might make this my first game for the PS3 and then go back and play other games I've missed.
anther great ps3 exclusive going to rent it first and if I like it I'll add to my list of games that I plan on buying there a quite a few games on it right now just don't have the money for it
I like that if you die you have to restart from the begining, it makes every step you take that more important.
@kcpp2b You really shouldn't let that put you off. It's a phenomenal game.
You have to keep restarting from the begining of a chapter or world everytime you die? That's pretty sad IMO... I hate trial and error kind of stuff and I guess for those people who like it really hardcore and tough this will be for them but I think it won't help the sales as I was interested in probably getting this but not anymore.
