Oh, and by fire enemies, I meant enemies which use fire weapons and items.

Also how do you beat those guys with heavy armor, shields, and blue glow in their eyes? They keep blocking my attacks and I'm not good with Soul Arrow because I missed some guy and he killed my with his flame weapon.

I get that the game can be beaten at Soul Level 1. I've seen that it's been done. But I'm guessing for the average gamer that isn't really going to be a possiblity. Most of us are going to need to level at some point or it's just going to get insanely frustrating.

What you said made me wonder if I should even be raising my stats but I've seen a couple of the bosses and got slughtered by them and I really don't think I have much of a shot at defeating them without doing some leveling. I'm totally amazed that people are able to do that but I don't think just anyone can. I guess I felt like commenting on this because the way you wrote it up it sounded like anyone should be able to get throught the whole game without leveling and I really don't feel that's very realistic. But I'd love to hear more opinions on the necessity of leveling. I'm just getting started with a couple of characters and am loving the experience so far. They did a superb job on the level design and the enemies are a blast to fight.

The basics of the post are very helpful but I feel that I would rather have been given some advice on leveling instead of being told it really isn't necessary. As I said before, I think most average gamers are going to have to level at some point or the game will become too frustrating.

Thank you sir, this has been quite helpful. I've only beaten the first boss, which wasn't that difficult. I choose wanderer for some reason, but when I get home I'm going to start over as a Royal! Amazing post!

Why not? That was one of my favorite characters to start out with.

I agree with this and for the casual gamer, level 1 is a bit much to expect them to be able to get through this. I feel it's not too much to expect completing the game between level 50-70 however. Just make sure you know what build you would like to make before raising stats.

I'm trying very hard to like this game, but if that knight-with-red-eyes doesn't die tonight this game's going back to the store. So far the game is a boring poke-fest, and this guy's pokes are better than my pokes so I instantly die and get sent back to the beginning with no checkpoints.

After I beat him (by poking him, running like a lunatic till he turns away so I can stab him in the back again and again because actual fighting doesn't work) there is a mausoleum with a king.

I parried and stabbed that king for a damn long time and he feels no pain. Then he hits me once and I block instead. It eats all my stamina and instantly kills me.

Yes I have the Cling Ring and Thief Ring. I'm giving this game too much patience.

You don't need to beat that guy yet. You can't access the area behind him either, because it is locked (you get the key near the end of stage 1-4). On your first playthrough, don't even try to beat him without leveling up first. After you get some experience at the game, you can beat him on soul level 1. But don't bother right now.
