@Toysoldier34: They usually make a note in the written review section about if a patch improved a game. They should do that with this.

I've always been curious about this game.I downloaded the demo and I love it.I will buy this game.I think it is a lot of fun.

they should do a kind of re-review but not replace it, but just put up two scores, because say they change a games score but then someone may not be able to get patches and is stuck with the original, like socom on ps3 is a great game but had bad server issues and almost made it unplayable for first week since its only online, but it runs fine now and deserves better

Sorry, but they won't re-review Demigod. Gamespot doesn't re-review games.

Everyone else, just take this review with a grain of salt. Demigod has been patched up plenty since release - even the demo is stable.

By the way, check out the demo. If you want to see how good this is, play that instead of looking at reviews - the game's improved markedly.

Also, League of Legends is a good alternative. It's made by Riot Games, the same people who made the old DotA maps for Warcraft 3, but it's a standalone game with a LOT more content than Demigod. It's still in open beta, but it's a viable alternative to this if you're interested.

They should really re review this. I just got it, and it really surprised me. To me, it looked very dull and cluttered. I was wrong. I've been playing it almost nonstop for the past few days. The internet issues weren't present. The only issues I had was lag. I highly recommend this, but get the demo first, I almost abandoned it at first.

So are they going to update the review at all or are they going to keep a score that was based on the game at launch?

What moron warcraft 3 geek did seriously think that basing an entire game off a scripted map could be a succes? If i'd want to play DOTA (which i wouldn't anyway because i think it suck) i would play it via. my warcraft 3 game, and not spend 40-60$ on something this limited

This game has addictive elements and is fun to play, but the online play for automatch is terrible, and doing local hosted custom games can sometimes drop people in the game. Nevertheless, the game takes on all the good from dota and throws away the bad. The comments about this game not having enough content is really true but I think they are probably going to release more heroes

This game is awesome... played it all night/today

Please dont compare it to dota, yea its the same type of game but I find this much more fun as it requires less WTF AM I DOING HERE while playing.

i am so looking forward to this game but might just end up disappointing me, but i hope they release a patch for this game, i mean the game has no campaign story, wth is that? it looks like they almost abandoned this game but release it despite that just to break even the finances or something.

i hear that people really like the game, but is it true that the online play is awful to connect

I'm still wondering when game developers start taking the art seriously again like Black Isle did. Now they're just looking for a nice formula that sells. Demigod obviously went with the DotA concept for its popularity, but they're not the only ones guilty. Think of how Crysis is almost similar to Halo and the political theme is starting to appeal to people (Mirror's Edge, Bethesda's sudden interest in the Fallout series, Bioshock)...

Back when Interplay made Fallout, they didn't really care what the players would think, they just wanted it made. It was a B-project, not aimed for money, but simply to give a shape to an idea. That's what made it great.

This game was reviewed early when Gamestop broke the street date. Thousands of people were trying to get online and the online infrastructure was not in place because the game wasn't supposed to be out yet. Supposedly the MP connection issues are resolved. I just wish there was a SP campaign.
