Dementium is the type of game you never see on the DS

User Rating: 7 | Dementium: The Ward DS
Dementium is a first person survival horror game. There are very few games like this available for the DS. Which is one thing that makes Dementium a good game.

The graphics in Dementium are really nice and look great. Since this is a DS game. The game also runs at a really good framerate, so there is no lag at all. This proves what the DS can really hold.

Like it says on the front cover, it's a mixture of Silent Hill and Doom 3. In Doom 3, you can only hold the flashlight by itself, you can't hold any weapons with it. But you could kill zombies by hitting them with it. In Dementium, you have to switch weapons. You can't attack with the flashlight. This is annoying, since everywhere you go in the game is extremely dark, which makes it hard to see the enemy.

The Silent Hill part of the game would have to be the health system and the way you have to run away from monsters most the time to save ammo. Your Pistol, which is the first gun you get, can only hold up to 24 bullets. After that, you can't reload. Which is annoying. So you have to run away from enemy's most the time just to survive. The health also shows your status instead of just being a simple health bar.

If you are looking for a portable action shooter, than this isn't the game you want to get. This game is a survival horror shooter, not exactly an action FPS.

In the game, you will have to solve puzzles. Which is another reason why action fans will not like this. The first puzzle you have to figure out is a piano. Above the piano, is something written in blood that says DEAD. You find a book that has a picture of a piano with letters on it. You then type DEAD with the piano and then you receive an item.

You also have a notepad which allows you to jot down info. Such as the beginning of the game you need to enter a code to open a door, and the code is written on the wall in blood.
