First off this is a tactical Shooter, not a FPS. So, if you want a FPS this is not your game. Although it cannot compete with some of the more refined tactical shooters (certainly not any next gen ones) this game is a solid buy for the going prices and is a good addition to any collectors library.
First off the good
1. I liked the end level rating system - it rated your use of various categories (marksmanship, loyalty, efficiency, etc) - I found myself wanting to get a good report card throughout the missions!
(As I said in my FSWTH review - They tied these ratings to upgrades! Yes!)
2. Tied to #1, good performance (average two or more stars per level out of 4) gets you enough stars to buy upgrades (unlock weapons, improve attributes, extra ammo or medical kits).
****spoiler****
3. Moderate level variation (you get to control a .50 cal while driving in a convoy) and have a fare amount of weapons at your disposal (over the course of the whole game not on each level).
4. Decent length. You will not breeze through this one without using all of your skills (grenades, flash bangs, NVGs). 16 levels of Somali warlords that love to spill your blood (try hard mode, go on see if your man enough)
5. I paid $7.48 for it (at eBay)
6. The darn warlords are not easy to kill, they roll around like monkeys and enjoy doing a two step right past you. Thankfully your teammates are a better shot than you and miss nothing.
7. A few nice touches, such as the ability to shoot out a light, and a flash bang would blind you if you got to close with NVGs, competent team mates (if you hesitated they would literally clear all the enemy), the ability to have a teammate re-supply your ammo and health)
Now the bad
1. It was a bit short, but what do you expect for less than $10
2. Soundtrack that was only so-so (where was the local music that was so nicely integrated in the film?
3. With 2 bad and 6 good this game gets a 78% or an 8/10. It is not worth playing if you are a serious shooter critic, but if you want to experience a tactical "trainer" it may be a bit of fun. An erie sound track is playin on a few levels, but other than that not much in the way of sound effects
