Black hawk down lies somewhere between simulator and ordinary First-person-shooter but this don't absolutely suck
Gameplay:First of it's based on historical events fighting your way through Somalia terrorized by the...terrorists.
This is a squad-based tactical shooter but actually it's not tactically it's just an arcade shooter,grab a gun and shoot everything that move,not bad indeed.And by the way of weapons they act and sound surprisingly good and there are lots of weapons to choose every mission.
The objectives in the missions may be pretty linear,most of them focus on destroying an radio satellite dish or making your way through a town crawling with terrorist soldiers,sort of stuff and the missions themselves are pretty satisfying and rewarding yet sometimes very very annoying.
Sometimes it's just too easy to die,some enemies shoot from 10 km distance with an amazing accuracy,I wish someday to achieve this skill tough.The enemy AI is not good but not bad,why?because they will be sometimes too dumb too shoot you,standing in front of him or too cleaver as I mentioned before,even like this they will act like a kamikaze just running toward you shooting with his gun,nothing special even if they sometimes cover making them invisible.
The animations look quite nasty,after all.Your teammates will act normally but the enemies sometimes hang around doing nothing(a bug or something) and beside this they suffer for linear character design,they all look the same.
But there are some satisfying things about this game,for an example shooting the enemies,even if they die all in the same way(being annoying after several hours of gameplay) and obvious the sniping parts,they are so great and rewarding.
Graphics:Well surprisingly they look way more better than Delta force xtreme 2 released in 2008........what??Yeah this is the truth they look very very good yet suffering from poor level design,weird locations tough the weapon design look outstanding.There are some nice touches indeed,like the water and some lightings effects that surprised me,some buildings look great,things like that.
One of the most terrible things about this game is the voice acting and sound,the voices of the soldiers sound awful yet the weapons sound very good indeed.
Overall:This game is flawed,but it's not such a disastrous game and should be played,it offers some thrills that shouldn't be missed despite of it's spicy price.
