Defy playing

I am a huge MMO fanatic. I have played Rift, Warhammer, WoW, City of Heroes, Wartunes, Runes of Magic, D&D Online, Everquest, EVE Online, etc. MMOs have things based on how a player plays their character and characters have different skill sets to appease different style players.

Defiance has none of this. Defiance you select a character, but basically all you do is shoot. There is no healing cast, no spell cast, no tank, no damage dealer--none of the usual MMO things. Could they have done this? Yes. In the defiance world you could have had a healer, a tank, instead of a magic dealer you could have had someone how builds tech, and a DPS character.

MMOs have storylines that quests add to, this is not so in Defiance. You go on a mission and you shoot the same bad guys over and over and over and over. The quests are not easy for the player who has never done a shooter since you have wave after wave after wave of bad guys and they can shoot you around corners and they always hit.

MMOs don't have a vechicle that is hard to control. Unless you play games that require you to drive you will find the controls for the vechicles frustrating.

There should have been some kind of explanation of the chat system. MMOs have their own ingame chat and you think you will have that since it is an MMO requiring a social aspect. There is none. If someone is not on the PSN network you have no contact with them unless you bring up the virtual keyboard. There is no "guild" button to join a guild or even to find out about a guild.

The game looks good, but that is about all it has going for it. Nothing is more frustrating than your vechicles trying to go left while you have the button pushed for straight forward, or when 20 bad guys attack at once and kill you instantly just about every single quest. Or when you complete a part only to have another wave of the same bad guys.

The game is tailored to the people who play shooters and racing games. There was timed events all over and unless you are adept at either of the aforementioned games you have no chance.

This has to be my choice for the worse MMO currently being played. Like a fool I wasted $100.00 on the Collector's Edition--you don't need any special edition--what you get is asthetic and it does not make you a better player--and would have been better served buying the standard edition since it looks like this one will be becoming a coaster for my soda while I go play something else.
