Chris gets his rhyme on as we get our first look at Def Jam Rap Star with Jamie King from the newly formed 4mm Games.
omg they ruined the series....:(
Why are people hating on this game? This makes more sense than the Def Jam fighting games. Def Jam is a record label so who knows where the idea came from to make a game where rappers fight...
i have a good rap song! i'm wario96, i'm really sick, rap songs i really hate this siz. you just sing a bunch words toghter like this, and start singing shoata fa no reason. don't know how to play the guitar, it an't no proplem, put you pants on the ground and sign about girls, and that is rap!
How about work on a 4th and better Def Jam fighting game..
it look cool
"Expect to see all of the local poser 16 year old suburban WHITE kids driving the SUVs they got from their parents"....Because there are no black kids who are posers riding in cars that were gifts from there parents.
Really? A karaoke rap game? Expect to see all of the local poser 16 year old suburban white kids driving the SUVs they got from their parents, now equipped with a "stereo system" (it's in quotes because 4000W of bass is not a real stereo, it's a noise-maker) and absurdly large, gawdy chrome wheels lined up to get their hands on this game. Funny enough, I noticed some old Ice Cube and even some Salt n' Peppa. My question is, since a lot of the present scene rappers drop the N word epithet like spare change and spew needless profanity (and I'm sure this game is going to buck for a T rating) what do the players do when 25% of the song is just silence because obscenities were censored? And does it really matter if you get the correct pitch on things like "UUHHHHHHHHNNNN" "YEAH" and "Wha-wha-what"?
Riiight, I enjoy 90's/00's rap, but I feel this is more gimmicky and just trying to get money out of the consumer. Just my personal feelings, could be fun but I'd rather they make a game like a good book or movie with a plot and deep characters and character interactions, again just my personal feelings.
fantastic culture hahahahahahahahah yea oooooook more like trashtastic
hiphop has been boomin for a while we needed somethin like this... but i think its success will rely solely on being able to create your own beats and rhymes and have a community rating system
Why is everybody hating? Seriously immature, this could be good if done properly.
@ honorofgod i would like to start off by saying ur a tool! now that that's out of the way i bet u listen to cousin kissin country music. just to let u know god loves rap music. sorry to dissapoint there guy!
Get me on there because I'm going to be the bomb. Anyone got game...LOL.
I love Hip Hop/Rap music, but this is ridiculous, I think Def Jam did great with the fighting games & should keep up with that..... Did anybody else notice they said N**** in the rap battle? lmfao.
A game about trash music. PASS!!
I want it.
Lmao, i was jus thinkin about this the other day but i didnt really kno how it would work out, but now wow lol.. Probably alot ppl wont get this game bcuz its nothing but rap songs, but im goin to get it. Its goin to b soo funny hearin ppl tryin to rap online omg can wait..
big ole pack of lameness
dam this is too funny yo, but props for representing hip-hop....or trying! peace out
Man, this looks doope! Haha, I loved the president of 4mm, he's so cool! Omd the rap battle was so funny. When the game comes out I will finally have mics and the camera lol :)
@Grimripper nec def jam is a record lable too. This game seems like a good idea to me.
I wonder if I can rap naked while recording my song and then upload it
omg It's just rap karaoke which is not saying much...
yea this maybe be an ok singer thing but def jam itself came out as a fighting game. An fight for NY was the best one an icon was a horrid iteration
i dnt like it to much like singstar and all those other singer games..i thought this was a fighting game?
OMG Easy-E will be rolling in his grave, what a dumb game.
probably an instant buy for me unless they totally bomb the idea.....instant party hit right here.
if Wheezy is on here, im buying this.
As a hip hop music lover...ugh well i smell a huge flop here. I doubt this will get released outside the U.S. or chances are it will get cancelled. Still umm good luck?
looks like not many people are looking forward to this game lol
I hope Dr Dre's The Chronic album is available in it's entirety, as DLC at least.
I think that everyone might be forgetting that the Def Jam company is a record label. Sure, they came out with a fighting game, but that's not what they are about. The reality is that Def Jam making a rap game makes a lot more sense than them making a fighting game. Saying that Def Jam is about fighting games is like saying that Run DMC or the Beastie Boys are UFC fighters. No...they're about music. Why else do you think most of the fighters in the Def Jam games are rap artists, many of whom have made records under the Def Jam label?
ok it seems like everybody here is talkin def jam the fighting game which nothing at all to do with this game this game is a way different company and way different game
wtf?
Def Jam Fight For NY was the best fighting game I have ever played. And now they're doing this? I'm sad. Icon was a letdown, why not make a new Def Jam FIGHTING game.
Im sure def jam was origonally a wicked beat em up or was that something else? What a cop out....

im a hip hop fan more 90,s anyway but i dont think im going to get this i was hopeing for something more like ffny or icon very disapointed
Should start a post on the EA forums for them to release Fight For NY 2 or a remake of FFNY.
where is Def Jam FFNY 2 ???
this is gay
Bruh this hella wrong, i wanted another Def Jam like FFNY.WTF!!! I would rather have another Fight n game than THIS Bull!!!!
Yeah FFNY2 would be great
i wish they could make FFNY2 tis is gay
If they include some oldschool classics rather than commercial pop rap songs, it will be fun.
I knew this was comin..
@9th SolBadguy ...Errrr DefJam is about music ..so it was only a given before someone made a Singstar Rap version and why not DefJAM. I'm not going to buy this but I'm sure someone might. I just wat AKI to make another decent DefJam or even a RockBand (dont know any major rock labels) fighting game. I would still buy that if they handled the fight engine (even though I'm not that into Rock).
This was so wrong on so many levels. Not hating the game ..... its not for me. Just wanted the next DefJam game to be Fight for NY2. But I guess EA messed up the License with that crap they called Icon. Whte the odds of AKI making another decent DefJam fighting games please !!!!!!!!!
OMG EA please take back the right for DEF JAM cause what the world doesn't need is another music sing along game DEF JAM is about underground street fights crap man its like taking Ken and Ryu and having them in a racing game
