This game is excellent for fans of fighting, rap, and fun. People like me!

User Rating: 9 | Def Jam: Icon X360
Def Jam: Icon is, unlike the previous titles like Def Jam: Fight For NY and Def Jam: Vendetta, focused on a more street fight feel. Unlike the previous titles which blended wrestling with rap music and current rappers, Def Jam: Icon adopts more of a street fight style of combat.
The Create a Fighter system (named F.A.C.E on the menu) is well handled, with all the sliders that you would generally expect from an EA title. The creation system also features something you don't normally see, that clothing is handled outside of the body creation menu. Although this may seem like an unnecessary, menu cluttering decision, it actually feels natural and not as annoying as you would think.
Of course Icon is only focused on creating your character, there is also a good fighting system, after all this is a def jam game. This fighting system provides nice controls, and a way of introducing simple and complex fights. It does this by having the ability to complete a fight with only the face buttons if you want, but it makes it a hell of a lot easier to use blocks, grabs, and counters. The worst part of the system is that the A.I. sometimes feels cheap. The way to fix this is by playing with a friend either online or on the same console.
The campaign mode dubbed "Build-a-Label" is also very well constructed. With a story so bad its funny. You start out as a guy who beats up people to make sure they don't trouble the boss. As you rise you recruit new guys to your label you earn money and style. These are needed to rise in the ranks and eventually reach your goal of becoming a rap/hip-hop icon. Style also earns you more than just points, Sometimes you'll get a girlfriend. Before you blindly accept these date offers you must think how they will affect your style, and your money.
There are many other things in Def Jam: Icon that add to the overall experience that I won't go into details about because i don't have time right now and i know i would forget what I just typed. So thank you for reading my review on Def Jam: Icon!
