Hunters and FPS gamers should love this game. I'm not a hunter, but I've thouroughly enjoyed playing Deer Hunter 2005.

Even if you're not a hunter, if you love first person shooter type games, then you may like Deer Hunter 2005. If you are a hunter, then you're sure to love Deer Hunter 2005. Sure, it's not going to have the action of a Half Life or Doom, but if you like a game that takes a little bit of thought and a lot of stealth, this could be just the ticket. The sounds in the game are quite realistic and draw you into the action. For example, when riding on your horse, it will occasionally let out a snort that is so real it always catches me by surprise. Though not perfect by today's standards, the graphics do look really nice and performed smoothly on my Athlon 1400 with a GeForce 5950 Ultra graphics card. If you're not crazy about hunting or games that require stealth, then you may find this game to be a little bit on the boring side. Myself, I enjoyed just walking through the expansive scenery looking for wildlife. Some of the scenery is quite spectacular and the wildlife is very detailed. All the wildlife, which includes not only the various species of deer, but squirrels, rabbits, birds, fish and more, is animated perfectly and responds intelligiently to it's surroundings and your presence. Also of note is that there is a map editor that can be downloaded to build your own custom maps. I have not used it myself and can't comment on it here, but it's nice to know it's available. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this game, especially at the bargain price of $19.95.
