User Rating: 6.1 | Deer Hunter 2005 PC
Deer Hunter 2005 Season is not all that it’s cracked up to be, sure it presents some interesting, even addicting new features but as a whole game it lacks some fundamental attributes. The first major issue is the problem with its ambient ‘eye candy’ as you will, besides the fact that 90% of all the trees are perfectly perpendicular with each other, you get to see the same group of rocks scattered on the terrain everywhere! It is obvious that the game is rushed and not very well presented. Another downside are the amounts of weapons and maps, there are far too less! One could get bored of this game in under an hour. Sure the customization is nice, but besides altering the color or our gun or its calibration (which I can’t tell the difference) there really is not much else. On a more positive note, the rag-dolls are downright hilarious to watch, hitting a deer at 500 yards and watching it perform multiple back flips until it lands belly side up is just too much. I can honestly say that however unrealistic, it provides some pretty funny movie moments. Yes, movie moments, a feature that enables you to take videos of your hunt, which I think is a great idea. I must also add that when shooting a deer, it actually slows down being wounded, unlike other hunting games where they run forever leaking what can only be estimated as 10 gallons of blood. Sure it has some huge rushing issues, but it provides some hours of good game time. Would I buy it again? No. I think time is better spent actually getting a gun license and going hunting on your own. Some features that they need to include in their next game is opening up room for more game, not to be confined to just deer, because hunting the same deer is just too repetitive regardless of the fact that the game is called ‘deer hunter’. If the game developers are reading this, please fix the ambient trees because they are terrible! I would like to see this game allowing you to hunt bears, wolves, deer, moose, elk, sheep, caribou, ram, turkeys, birds and all sorts of critters. Speaking of turkey’s this game has lots of them, but other then shooting them in the rear and watching them plop over, it be nice to actually bag them! Overall, it is not all that bad, it could use some fixing and in my eyes if this series wants to stay alive, more need to be added to make it interesting.
