Speedball 3D ! A fine reworking of a 16bit classic that with refinement and a sequal or 2 could have been a clasic

Speedball 3D. this game is the first reworking of the speedball idea since speedball 2012 ( ?? ) on the Psone ... and this is honestly a far better attempt. First lets start with what it gets right, Graphics are fine and solid throughout, Controls in the topdown view are responsive and tight. The gameplay is fast , fun and unique in the current Gen. Cut sceens and intros add atmosphere to proceedings and the ability to improve players and buy free agents is welcome if a little basic. So what's wrong ? Well the third person contols are at best described as confusing .. at worst unwealding and fundamentally flawed. Unfortunately there are certain matches that force you to play in the 3rd person view and they really spoil what is otherwise a great game. Secondly swearing is not big or Clever .. so flipping stop it ! the "naughty" language is overdone slightly and could do with being turned down a notch. finally the game is a little shallow in the single player mode and it won't take long for you to be able to beat any teamthe game throws at you. In the end it's a shame that this game didn't gather it's warented success as a sequel or two could have not only turned this into a profiable francise ... but possibly an all time classic. As it stands it is a solid atempt to pay homage to Speedball 2.
