Exactly what it's supposed to be

User Rating: 9 | Deadfall Adventures PC

The game is pretty straight forward. The title of the game tells you that it will be about shooting (deadfall) and about adventuring. At the very beginning the game tells you (literally) that this game is about exploration and that in every corner there could be a hidden treasure which is completely true.

I decided to play this game solely upon graphics. I figured if someone went into so much trouble creating such beautiful graphics and especially the scenery (Unreal engine) the game should be good. And I was right.

The game is not by any means a Bioshock killer, but it has a well established yet standard story, reasonably good gameplay and superb graphics.

Let me start with graphics. The graphics are very easy to process (atleast for a GTX670) and are very diverse. You travel through different regions such as Egipt, the Antarctic, Guatemala etc. and the amount of detail in the scenery is just fantastic. I don't think I need to carry on about it because you can see the screenshots. A good thing about the video engine is that it's responsive. There's no lagging or feeling like your moves are quarter of a second behind you like in some games.

Next is the story. The story is quite generic and predictable. You feel like you're playing in a movie where the main star is Harrison Ford as Indianna Jones, where you and your female sidekick fight and rush to find the desired artifacts and along the way you run into some NAzis and Russians and even mummies who are only killable if you flashlight them like in Alan Wake. It's fun but nothing spectacular.

Gameplay. Gameplay is as it should be. You have two main pistols which never run out of bullets and a secondary weapon. You can also change the pistols for other type of pistols and when they are depleted you automatically get the pistols back. You can also throw grenades and dinamyte. Moving around and shooting is as smooth as it can get, and as far as I'm concerned there isn't any glitches in the game. Atleast I didn't encounter any. You also have a notebook with istructions how to solve puzzles (I find it useless) and a compass which is pretty useless too. The compass points towards treasures but it starts to point when you are already almost in front of it. The point of the treasures is that you can use them to upgrade yourself like health and stamina etc. You also have a Crysis type menu when you hold mmb which I didn't use too much.

So to sum it all up what you have here is a graphically beautiful game with a completely functional gameplay and a standard story. The game is exactly what it says in the title. You go and shoot some Nazis and mummies, they fall dead (deadfall) and while you're at it you get to hunt for treasures, artifacts and explore which is the "adventures" part. So I would rate this game as: graphics 9, Gameplay 8 and story 5.

I would also like to give kudos to the developers who obviously put so much work into the graphics. Great game overall but I feel as if the enemies are waaay to easy on normal.
