F Bombs, Brutal Takedowns and a Wolf?

User Rating: 7.5 | Dead to Rights: Retribution X360
Dead To Rights Retribution is a third person shooter that doesn't necessarily take itself too seriously. The "Hyper-Realism" art style of the game lends itself very nicely to the gameplay as you'll be Breaking arms, Legs and many faces with both guns and your bare hands.

You play as Jack Slate and let me tell you, He's a shoot first and ask questions later type of guy (I Like That). The story ties everything together and you'll very seldom feel lost or unsure of what you're supposed to do, mainly in part to the linear level design. The level design didn't bother me because I knew to expect a High Octane Shooter with very basic gameplay elements.

The Action is Brutal and I really enjoyed putting the hurt on these Bad Guys. The action doesn't change too much although playing some stealthy segments as Shadow does the trick by breaking up the gameplay and keeping things slightly fresher than they otherwise would have been.

The shooting is very straight forth and familiar to all Shooters in this genre, however you'll need to conserve ammo and resort to Hand to Hand combat to ensure you stay loaded for heated moments. I Actually really enjoyed this aspect of the game because it made me want to mix things up by interchanging between shooting it out and punching it out when facing enemies. It really creates a desire to script your own action movie, as you try to be as Bad A*$ as you can. You're able to build a focus meter for Slow-Mo Action moments that add Drama and Damage to your Play Style. (Jacks ruthless One Liners really add to the Brutality of all the Action)

Overall I give this a solid 7.5 because it really did the trick for me. I've been waiting for a brutal Action shooter that really emphasized the Takedowns and Head Shots and this has done the trick for now. This isn't a Gears of War or Max Payne, but it is like a younger brother of the two that could've been something Truly GREAT if it had been better Refined and Imagined.

This is a must Rent for Brutal Action Fans! The lack of Multiplayer or challenge modes makes this a hard one to recommend as a purchase, but if you can spare the change and this sounds like your cup of tea; indulge as I did!
