I'm a big fan of Dead to Rights, but this game was appallingly disappointing. Rent for an hour, if you must.

I've always been a big fan of Dead to Rights; I've owned the whole series and even bought the games twice on different platforms. I came with high expectations for Dead to Rights: Reckoning. It was something to be happy about; I could take Dead to Rights with me wherever I wanted now. But this game was a huge letdown.
It started off with the worst plot the series ever had: A girl has been kidnapped because whoever the hell abducted her has no life, and they left Jack a note telling him to risk his neck for her when he didn't know she existed. Being a Good Samaritan, Jack takes his dog Shadow with him and proceeds to kill anyone he lays his eyes on.
Wow. A drunk teenager must have written the story in a few minutes.
But the gameplay could be good, right? Right! Now; you can dive, disarm and call your dog to tear everyone's throat out. Cool. But it's all been done before. Nothing new. In fact, there's no limit to how many people you can disarm and when, making this game pathetically easy. The Super Cop difficulty, even, can be completed by a toddler in two hours. There are only a few weapons, and there's no question of range: as long as a bullet hits the bad guy, it doesn't matter if you're over the horizon or two feet away from him; it does equal damage.
The worst thing about Dead to Rights Reckoning is just how short it is. At most, it takes about an hour to finish, and by that time, you're tearing your hair out thinking why you bought it. Since it recycles everything from Dead to Rights 2, it would have made sense to make it a port of Dead to Rights 2, but the developers tried to be smart and made it one of the worst early PSP games.
At least the graphics are good, and sadly that's the only thing I can say in favour of this game. Rent for an hour; that's all the time it takes.
