Captivating story line
Highly addictive
Great voice acting
Great gameplay
Replay value
Great sound system
Sorta Scary (don't play if u get scared easily)
Great characters
Blood spatter is very realistic

Cons:

A few glitches

Enemy AI isn't too great
Can get repetitive at times
You may think your the only person on the ship doing anything

Things that were good but could have been improved:

The camera angle can only be over the shoulder. Some people may like to be able to switch to first person.

The hair of other people was okay but could have looked better.

The story line of this game is very good. You are Isaac Clarke, an engineer. You arrive on a mining ship called the USG Ishimura, responding to a distress signal. You decided to take this job because your girlfriend lives and works on this ship. As soon as you arrive you are separated from your crewmates (known as Zach Hammond and Kendra Daniels). They send you off completing several tasks throughout the game. Unlike many games, the story gets better and better until the end.
The graphics and the sounds are amazing. You may spend several minutes watching the asteroids fly across the bridge. The sounds are very realistic and add to the atmosphere of the game. In a "vacuum" in outer space, the sounds change to create the feeling that no one can really hear you scream.
The gameplay is very good. Instead of the traditional "aim for the head" you use "strategic dismemberment" where you aim to cut off the "necromorph's" limbs. You use stasis to slow objects and necromorphs down. You use kinesis to pull objects toward you (very similar to gravity gun in Half Life 2) and you can choose to propel the object forward or to drop it. The game took me exactly 15 hours and 13 seconds to complete on easy but could be done in maybe 13 1/2 hours. Completing it unlocks the level 6 suit and he "impossible" mode. After you have completed it once you can play it again and again on the same difficulty with all of your unlocked items (very good replay value). The game can be downloaded off of Xbox Live for $19.99 or can be bought at stores for the same price. I picked mine up for $10 (amazing deal) from Walmart on Black Friday 2009. It is in the Platinum Hits Collection (looks very good in this case). The game won many awards and is sure to impress anyone who plays it. Unlike many other games, the gameplay gets better and better until the end.

Dead Space Extraction (Wii) came out in Sptember 2009 and was a prequel to this game. Dead Space 2 (sequel) is in development and is expected to be released sometime in 2010.

I did find 4 gliches. 1 was in the captain's bedroom (and the bedrooms around that). You could walk right through the recliner-like chairs. 2 was when you were pulling the marker in chapter 11. It could get stuck a times. The 3rd glitch I found was that in chapter 12 when you are attacked in the first room after moving the marker, was that the force gun could kill the dark necromorphs (has the 2 blade hands) with one hit very close up or up to 4 hits very close up (worked with some others also). The last glitch I found was (again in chapter 12) that you couldn't break the green boxes up close with the force gun even with multiple hits, then in the first room you move the marker into (when it goes to quarantine) I was able to smash three of those boxes with one hit from 15 feet. Otherwise there were no glitches that I found/ remember.

This game is NOT recommended for children (very, very bloody and has lots of gore and strong language). For anyone else, it is a great buy and does not fail to impress.
