    I might be called stupid for asking this..
    But does this song have like a somewhat hidden meaning like Ring around the Rosie..?
    Like when I heard this I started think and wondered if there..was and if the hidden meaning had some kind of connection to Dead Space?
    So yeah.. and sorry for the long..post..

    It's been a long ass time since I've heard Ring Around the Rosies(let alone actually read the lyrics to Twinkle Twinkle) so what is the hidden meaning you speak of?(to RATR)

    Ring Around the Rosie is derived from the time of the bubonic plague (Black Death). its based on the belief at that time that stuffing your pockets with posie petals could prevent the infection. the rings refer to the coloration that formed around the boils victims would get.

    also, "ashes, ashes, we all fall down" is describing how they would burn those that died of the plague to prevent the spread of it. and obviously the act of dropping dead. you'll find that many childhood fairy tales and limmericks are quite gruesome in their nature

    I thought they put the flowers in their pockets after they die, to get rid of the smell. Maybe it's debateable.

    Well, lets see, off the top of my head

    "Hansel and Gretel" deals with child abuse/abandonment, murder, and cannibalism. It's even been debated that the original story didn't involve a witch, but just an old woman who actually meant no harm.

    most others are just gruesome in that people/animals are killed, yet the stories are told to children in a way that just dismisses the acts as acceptable material.

    As for Twinkle Twinkle. I cant find anything there that seems cryptic by intent....rather by only WANTING it to be so.


    This is the darkest I can come up with

    "When the blazing sun is gone,

    -well, its a known fact that our sun will die someday, casting the world into total darkness (if it isn't just swallowed up instead)

    "Then the traveler in the dark
    Thanks you for your tiny spark;

    If you did not twinkle so."

    - i just had an image of a shadowy figure carrying a glinting knife, possibly stalking his victim

    so yeah....i'm just grasping for straws with this one. seems to be what it is....a pleasant little rhyme about a star and how people didn't know just WHAT they actually were (scientifically speaking)

    Did you know? THis is actually an interesting version of Cinderella...


    Ok, so everyone knows the prince comes back from his castle and tries to find "that woman" by seeing which woman fits the shoe.

    Well, in the version we all know and love, is where they all fit their feet in and only Cinderella fits... ok good,

    Now for the original. Instead of Cinderella's "sisters" trying on the shoe, they actually in the original tale chopped off their feet and/or pieces of their feet to make their feet fit. SO, actually the tale is gruesome and one sister went as far as amputating her entire foot to "fit" into the shoe.

    ^ indeed. i also love Robot Chicken's take on Sleeping Beauty (which is based off the Norse myth of Brunhild). Prince leans over and kisses her only to have a nearby bird start screaming "DATE RAPE! DATE RAPE!" and the prince just takes off

    That Cinderella thing pretty messed up..
    I was hoping Twinkle Twinkle would have some hidden meaning and why it was placed on that one chapter.

    Well it wasn't really like a hidden meaning I guess..
    But like little kids like when I was small would sing that..and I would never knew it meant until ..
    Around 8th grade my teacher told us what it meant..
    Now Im a Junior now and never thought about other little nursery rhymes besides Humpty Dumpty had like a hidden/darker meaning that portrayed in the song.

    No, you don't understand what I'm saying. Ring Around the Rosie has nothing to do with the Black Death. That's just an urban legend.

    it's up for debate thanks to how many versions there are of the tune and the fact that it wasnt even sung until around 500 years AFTER the plague. i, personally, see too many parallels to deny the probability of it.
