GameSpot's Shaun McInnis takes you to the terror of Dead Space Extraction on the Wii.
does look pretty cool on the wii :) if its anything like the xbox version wii fans are in fro a treat. this is an amazing game would like to see a sequal for the 360
Wow this game looks realy great! Can't wait for it :P
awesome
This looks awesome! I havn't played Dead Space yet though. Perhaps I should play this first to get "prepared" to play Dead Space.
i think it looks ok but definitely no where near original dead space but its not really fair to compare cuz the wii isn't in the same level as ps3, pc, and 360.
on rails? hell to the motha fn no. pass up
graphichs are the reson wii sucks flat out and dead space just needs its good looks to be fun who agrees?
@Bhemont Well said. It's simply marketing, yet still I think they might want to give Wii owners a taste of what's out there. Though they changed the mechanics of the game, I believe it'll be a fun game to play. There are many possibilities for FPS on the Wii, few publishers take advantage of that.
@dogbert784 It's marketing, why EA wants to make more money is beyond me... :/
looks fun enough as long as im not the one buying it i will enjoy this game my bro will get it for sure hes obsessed with dead space
the other dead space is much better...you arent aiming the wiimote at the screen ,you are just pointing it in different directions to make the crosshair move.
not bad, im a big fan of house of the dead series.
Why only wii?
@ 00:58 She got pwned..haha
@Kingplayer1080~ Use your head man, the Wii isn't as powerful as the PC/360/PS3. They have to take in consideration what they can and can't do when developing a a game for the Wii. It be nice to be able to have that level of graphics but sorry to say, the Wii doesn't have multiple proccessor in to fuel its graphic engine. As far as getting a version for your Xbox 360, that is very unlikey since the game uses the Wii remote's IR for its main game mechanic. If they did decide to port the game to the Xbox 360 and used the 360 controller in replacement for the IR on the Wii remote, it would feel clunky and a little slow. Did you ever play those games where they used the D-Pad or Analog stick on those older systems? They would also have to change the game mechanics as well.
Crazy stuff. I'll make sure to get this one.
great preview, I played the first one and it was awesome but why are the producers only making prequal for the WII? Also I can see the graphics looks downgraded from the original one (though looks like it makes it up with more scary momments). They better get a version for the xbox 360
what's up with the boring box art??
it looks okay...but they shouldve sticked with the 3rd person mode ...this game would be much better in 3rd person than in 1st...
wow a 1 minute e9 sec preview that's a first, did tell that much *sigh*
i just hope it does wel on the wii.it did'nt do as good as the game disserve's in my eyes.
This video preview did not interest me at all...I don't think the narrative was what made it seem boring...the idea of shooting at dismembered aliens just isn't my cup of tea. I wish EA would re-release Black for the Wii. Now, that would be fun! I could totally see myself zapping away (or maybe Nintendo would come up with some other cool controller).
-fmobliv06 "i might actually wipe the layer of dust off my wii (literally.) " Four years ago this post would have been deleted for being explicit.
The narrator is dry for he is reading off a script. GameSpot staff aren't exactly voice actors really.
sounds impressive i have not played dad space on the ps3, or 360, so i am not sure what to expect, really... but looks impressive...

The narrator is dry as a used battery

Vid won't load.
Vid won't load.
Man, I friggin hate zombie games.....let's move on people!!!
with this, wii sports resort, and muramasa, i might actually wipe the layer of dust off my wii (literally.)
10 imaginary dollars says this will be a short and and no replay value
@ Mr_Tweedy are you serious? ''It's the most sensitive and versatile control mechanism ever made for any game platform'' pfft... gimme a break dude, its limited to how you point it at the screen. add in the WM+ and its sorta gets better, but it still cannot beat what sony has to offer. Now that is the most sensitive and versatile control mechanism ever made for any game platform. you dont need to point it at the screen, it works on signals and a digital images to find out where it is. its so accurate and quite frankly is better than the Wii mote. that tech is sooo good even the army used it and they have had it far before sony ever did, its only just become available for the consumer market.
I'm not buying any more games for the wii, release it for PS3.
great game which waesnt availible for the wii at the first time + the company of the game announcing an exclusive prequel/sequel for that game only for the wii + the wii = rail shooter. rail shooter= 7.0 scores 7.0 scores for the sequel/prequel of a game which had 9.0 on it's previous release= total fail
The Wii no doubt gets an E for Effort. I love the innovation and what it's trying to do, I just don't think it's quite there yet. It will no doubt get better with time, as both Nintendo and third party developers improve on the mechanics. But for now, just have to deal with what you have. Hating on the 360 won't help improve the Wii game library though, that's for sure.
The Wii controller has the equivalent of of 4.5 analog sticks. It's the most sensitive and versatile control mechanism ever made for any game platform. I call that superior hardware, regardless of the number polygons a 360 can produce. Besides, The Conduit is the only game that's even tried to make use of the Wii's graphics hardware. No one knows what kind of graphics the Wii can make because, to date, there is only one game that has even tried to push it, and even that game (notwithstanding the fact that it's pretty good) was made by a no-name hack developer.
@ Mr_Tweedy The 360 sucks? Funny, I could have sworn is boasts the best online console network to date with a library of games, exclusives, and movies like nothing ever seen before. I'm sure the folks over at Microsoft feel blessed that you "tolerate it's inferior controls and other shortcomings" in regards to their system. Get with the program jack. The majority of Wii games look like they were made ten years ago, not because the dev's are sticking it to the public, but because they're working with what they have. The system is made for kids who want to race cartoons around in circles, or for fat kids who's parents think the Wii Fit will actual do something. The Wii sells well because it's exclusive franchise games appeal to it's target audience, most of whom fall into the age range that Sony and Microsoft don't need to battle over. It's all about the Marios.
Well Mr. Tweedy, the wii is very limited by it's hardware. That's not being biased, that's not some propaganda.. That's the simple FACT. It's just not capable and fast enough to handle newer games that are being put out nowadays (At least, at a playable frame rate) and on top of that personally I don't think a lot of dev's want to deal with the wii because of the controller, that's just my personal belief. Because It's easier to just stick with a keyboard or gamepad. That means less money being spent on that stuff and more into other parts of the game. Just think of it this way... You can't put 1,000lbs on a 2 wheeler. It simply can't support the weight, it's not built for that. But you can throw 1,000lbs in the back of a semi and have no issues whatsoever. That being said.... I love dead space
@ Kai0nTheMoon I have a 360. It sucks. I bought it only because I was tired of waiting for good Wii games. I tolerate it's inferior controls and other shortcomings because, unfortunately, I have to if I want to play most any game that's worth picking up a controller for. If devs would make good Wii games instead of crap, I would throw that ugly box out my window in a heartbeat. I want Wii games because I like the Wii. The Wii has the best features; it's stupid that it has the worst games.
I'm hoping this game gets ported over to PS3 after the announcement of the new wii-esque controller. This game with updated graphics would definitely pique some interest in that market I think. The Wii almost seems like the wrong market for the game, seeing as the Wii is sold as a family or kids console first. Same with Madworld, I wonder if that sold well...
Why is everyone now trying to imitate Sega's House Of The Dead?
@ Mr_Tweedy, the point of the Wii is to offer a new type of gaming immersion for the player. It was made to appeal to the non-average gaming audience. Many gamers of old have girlfriends, or sisters, or older family members who partake in the type of games it has to offer. It's simply not geared towards the red blooded American male. The devs DO make good games, depending on the audience you ask. One group could sit and enjoy playing Mario Cart Wii or Super Smash Bros. Brawl for hours and hours, while another group won't even want to look at it. I for one love RPG's, but my friends only play things like NHL09 or Tiger Woods. They lack the desire and patience to enjoy games like The Last Remnant. It annoys me to a point, but whatever, to each their own. So stop being frustrated and go play whatever system you like. Don't worry about everyone else. If you're that amped for Dead Space, go get a 'better' system and play the original ;)
I am so frustrated. The Wii is the best game system ever made, and all it gets is crap. I was happy when I heard we were getting Dead Space, but then it turns out to be just a flippin' rail shooter?! WTF?! The Wii deserves better. And The Conduit just came out, and nobody's buying it. It's a good game! It's every bit as good as your average 360 shooter, but it gets hated on because it's on Wii and Wii is for kiddies (blah blah blah). Even the reviewers are biased against it. Why do devs refuse to make good Wii games, and when a good Wii game does come out, people refuse to buy it? It just makes me mad.
Releasing a Dead Space game on Nintendo Wii is like opening a Big & Tall store in Munchkinland; illogical. The game itself looks alright visually, but making games look nice on the Wii are one thing. Making that stupid Wii-mote respond how it's supposed to is another challenge that most Wii developers seem to fail at time and time again. Games like 'Clone Wars' looked promising too, but I could feel more like a Jedi waving my toothbrush around. Bottom Line: Wii should stick to cutesy party games; leave the survival horror genre to the real systems.
absolutely PUMPED for this. though I can definitely say I would not be nearly excited if there were no co-op.
Extract me here, I wanna get out at Dead Space :D!!!
This game has a tremendous atmosphere. I will surely give it a go on the Wii, though I am pretty much looking forward to the sequel.
