Dead Space 3 may not be truly frightening as some fans were expecting but as a game it delivers in spades.

User Rating: 9.5 | Dead Space 3 PC
First off if you want a horror game ala the old Resident Evils, Dead Space 3 is not for you.

PC Specific Info:

Good port, no mouse/vsync issues as in DS1, runs smooth, FPS seems above 30, no mouse acceleration, has some pc specific graphics enhancements.

Story:

Confusing and corny are the words that come to mind. Serves to introduce new environments, that's about it. Definitely not a strong point.

Gameplay:

Excellent. Plays like previous Dead Space except use of kinesis has been greatly expanded. New cover system and crouch mechanic however are dumb and redundant.

Aiming is smooth and precise, shooting immensely satisfying, inclusion of stasis and kinesis add variety to attacks.

More varied gameplay sequences but do not detract from core experience.

Graphics:

DS3 is a looker for sure, best in series. Textures are detailed though not very hi-res, use of colour is excellent, lighting and shadows also stellar.

Level of detail in levels, characters, objects is insane. Everything looks hand-crafted. Very impressive imo.

Art style is very attractive.

Atmosphere:

Creepy and disconcerting. Less jump scares than DS2 thank god. Definitely not as scary as the previous 2 however.

Much more varied and open environments than in previous games.

Enemies are faster and there are more of them at one time, so there is still fear but more of a panic rather than dread.

Value:

Great value for money. Clocked 17 hours on Normal, twice as long as DS2. Haven't even tried Co-op yet.

Can use in-game "ration coupons" to purchase some DLC for free. Micro transactions are not needed to complete the game, are strictly optional and unobtrusive.

New crafting system encourages replayablity and is intuitive and fun.

Conclusion:

Enjoyed it immensely. Great game but not a great horror game. Well worth the money.
