At least for me that is. If this is true It'll be awesome.
http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2013/01/22/dead-space-3-hands-on-preview-ps3/"Hard Core mode has made a significant change from its appearance in Dead Space 2. In Dead Space 3, the save system utilizes an autosave at checkpoints, rather than requiring you to manually save at save points. For this reason, the limit of three saves from our previous experience with Hard Core mode would not work for this game, which is why in Dead Space 3’s Hard Core, you simply cannot die. That’s right, no deaths. Period. You can autosave, stop playing the game, come back to it anytime, but as soon as you die your progress is reset to the beginning and autosaved. As Woldman put it, “You have to be perfect”.
Very Interesting.

Lol. True, it wasn't too bad, but when you get really far or you try to hold out for that save point only to have an enemy you forgot about to come in with the "DENIED". . .well there's a level of crazy frustration and "I should have known better" that goes with that you know? If this is suppose to be longer than the others and you have to start from the beginning every time. . .that's just wild. . .

I like shooting myself in the foot as much as the next masochist, but this is ridiculous. Although the game probably isn't going to be that long since they implement this kind of punishment.

I don't think it's gonna be any shorter than DS2, not to mention the sidequest.
Jan 24, 2013 8:31 pm GMT
They already said it'll be the longest one in the series. This is ridiculous though, so ridiculous... I.... I.... I MUST PLAY O_O
Hell I beat Demon's/Dark Souls and Dead Space 2 on Hardcore, -takes out plasma cutter- Let's do this sh*t!

Whoever said bigger guns wins the war? It's all about the stupid people who want to kill themselves.

I think they meant you can progress, shut off the game, come back, and be at the point where you last saved. You just can't die or you get shot back to the beginning. So it's not like you have to beat the game in one sitting. I'm hoping this one is just a bit longer than two. Oh and twice as awesome would be nice too!

Well of course, you can walk away and resume playing later on, but still. . .no matter how you look at it, it still kinda sucks and brings about a level of high tension. If you die right at the end of the game, then you're back at square one. With DS 2 at least you only lost a couple of hours when put it in perspective with your save point. This time, you risk it all every freaking time. . .

Whoever wrote that article didn't do his research.
Isaac did have some fighting experience from when he's in the Merchant Marines, as mentioned in a file back in the first Dead Space.

There is no such thing as a "Quick Time Event done right".
A game that has Quick Time Events is a "video game done wrong".

Locked save file = very frustrating. PS+ users can retry every 24 hours.
Regular save file = frustrating, but infinite retries for everyone.
Let's see how this ends up.

I understand it now. So, the game autosaves, which allows you to quit the game and then come back at anytime you want. Okay I like that. But, you have to be "perfect" in the sense if you die, the game restarts you at the beginning and autosaves. So, essentially, there are no checkpoint restarts in hardcore mode. My question is, will there be a autosave restart option from the pause menu? Because if there is, hardcore will definitely be easier. I would play hardcore in DS3 like I practice my hardcore runs in DS2. I run through DS2 in Zealot mode, and ANYTIME i take damage from anything, I checkpoint restart. I would play hardcore mode in DS3 more or less the same way if I could, which would be so much more fun and less frustrating than DS2 harcore.

There's a potential way of save-scumming with this new system.
If you know you're about to die, pause the game and quit. Either the game will autosave you to the most recent checkpoint or you'll have to reload from your last autosave.
Of course, anyone who does that should be shown a video of Necromorphs laughing at them for their cowardice.
