So yes, just looked at the news on ign Nd they are using microtransactions in this game to buy things like resources for guns.

Seriously? You pay $60 and then pay more just to upgrade your gun. I got confused at first, I thought I was now getting an iOS app.

I was buying this game but I guess dead space series ended with 3 fit me. Won't support this because if this sells well every EA game is going then have it.

Pay 2 win your way through battlefield 4 or army of 2.

It's EA what do you expect.

I bought dead space 1 and 2 day 1 won't be picking this up until the price drops.

can you clarificated? what do you mean pay 60 then pay more to upgrade the gun?

does this mean there is no way to upgrade the gun like in DS1 and DS2 other then paying EA or do you pay to get "easy upgrade" for the gun?

You cant compare RE5 to Dead Space, its like comparing a broken SDTV to brand new HDTV.

I'm sure it's more of an optional thing. If you ever played dead space mobile, there was a similar feature in there where you can pay to get higher armor , money , nodes, and weapons instead of waiting till you unlock them in game. And plenty of companies do this, not just EA.

Don't blame them for being a business. If you knew someone would be dumb enough to pay extra for something to get it early, wouldn't you at least offer that option?

TC, why don't you stop supporting this kind of business practice with D3? No need to wait for the next game to employs such business practice.

This is actually a good thing. You don't have to buy resources with real money, it's just an option. Sort of like mass effect 3. In ME3 you can buy upgrade packs with real money or in game currency. EA makes so much money off stupid rich kids because of this, that they are enticed to offer the multiplayer expansion packs for free... All the while, i can get the same stuff by earning in game currency while playing. Basically, i get free expansions that some idiot with too much money pays for by buying upgrade packs. Win/win!

What they are doing with Dead Space will be similar.

Hmm, we need an option to turn off In-App Purchase (IAP) so to avoid spending $$$ accidentally. Maybe through game's option menu (or console settings screens?) =p

According to the statements from EA, these things you can buy are things you can find in the game for free. It's purely optional. IMO it's not all that different from DS1 and 2, in both games you could buy weapons and armor from PSN or XBL, and these were special powered up weapons that you could *not* find in the game for free. There's no reason to make a big deal out of this.

The micro transactions are gonna be like the ones in Mass Effect. You don't need to buy them to get everything in the game. They are really for people that don't want to grind out the side missions and what have you.

Since I've survived this long against the Necromorphs without additional help from EA, I'll just stick to what nature provides within the wilds of the Tau ice planet.

This, you can either earn the upgrades yourself, or pay them to get access to them early, it's completely optional and only a moron would make such a big deal out of this.

Yes, then you realise you started a new co-op campaign and someone joins who has just bought everything with microtransactions, is one shorting everything and all you are getting to do is corridor walk. Sounds like ill really want this game.

It's just going to have overpowered pay to win losers ruining the game when lets face it, it is co-op orientated.

That pretty much ensured I won't be buying this day one, I was starting to get used to the things I didn't like and give the game the benefit of the doubt too. If I do ever pick it up, I'll probably make it a point to get it used. If It was some Multiplayer thing, fine, it sucks but that's what they do now a days but keep that stuff out of my single player campaign.

Personally I'm far more offended that they got rid of the Store and save points.
