Because have the two characters are not seeing the same thing. How many times does this need to be said?

I'm sure they will patch spilt screen in later since a lot of people what to play with their friends at their house, also some people may want to see all the extra scenes from co-op.

Again, the co-op in this game is not your average run of the mill, thrown in for nothing co-op mode.

Carver is not experienced like Isaac, so he will suffer from hallucinations and such, which only he (you the other co-op player) will see. You also do different things throughout the game and end up in different scenarios, such as in the demo for example.

In the single player demo when you have to save yourself while the truck is falling, it's just you making Isaac climbing up inside and banging a door open, but in the co-op demo on Carver's side, Carver is falling too but he takes a different path on the outside of the truck and helps Isaac pull the door open.

These are unique viewpoints made especially for the co-op mode, and with things like this, having a normal split-screen co-op would defeat the purpose of such a unique co-op mode.

People are ignoring these facts and the experience of such a mode, and instead thinking that it is a normal co-op mode from a myriad of other games, which isn't the case and shouldn't be thought of as such.

They're not going to patch in split screen, they can't, it'll be too difficult to make the game run two completely different lines of code at once on one disc.

If people want to see the extra scenes, then they'll play coop, if they don't want to play coop, then they don't want to see the scenes that badly.

To sell two copies of the game rather than one.

I've always felt the split screen was a horrible inclusion into games. Especially on the old SD TVs.

So you have no one on your PSN friends list that you could see yourself playing this game with? If not then I am sure you could find a decent partner on this forum or another one.

Except this isn't unique. Games of the past generation have done split screen where the two players aren't doing the exact same thing. Hell, even Gears of War had a similar setup, yet Visceral is just too lazy to implement it.

I'd imagine this is another way for EA to shove the online pass down their customer's throats.

Just a sub-question. But whats the story behind Carver? Why is he weaker than Issac?

Because Isaac is used to the markers influence, Carver isn't.

Hopefully they hold true to their word, but no matter how you try to sugar coat it, the game will not be DROP IN/DROP OUT co-op if you can't start/continue to play the game as Carver in the multiplayer game if the Isaac player leaves. The demo had a horrible set-up forcing you to revert to Isaac if your partner left. I hope that a company wouldn't be stupid enough to implement something like that in the final product, but lately you can't help but wonder.

Having a perfect AI partner made the game easy and less frightening.

Now, having a 24 hour AI partner who died a lot in hardcore mode is different. It made you insane.

I wish if it was like RE5 where you finish the game and you unlock the ability to play as Sheva in single-player mode. This way after finishing DS3 once you could play as Carver and Isaac player would join you. If Isaac quit, you won't revert to Isaac but still continue playing as Carver.
