I believe this game would fit in the "interactive movie" category, it's very cinematic, but the cut-scenes rarely steal the controls from you, you're always interacting in some way, which feels really nice.
The plot, thought, it's all over the place, or maybe there's no plot at all, I didn't really got it. Of course I could go to wikipedia , get some trivia on it and then act smart in my review, but no, I shouldn't have to do that, even thought the atmosphere and characters are well designed, the plot narration is bad and confusing.
I don't even know if I saved the universe or helped the aliens without knowing it, in the end something explodes and the credits roll, oh well.

The gameplay is very solid, 3rd person shooter cool and gory-oriented weapons, and a couple of melee moves that are really worthless but I believe that's the point, the monstrosities you fight make you feel weak and helpless. At least until you get some weapon fully upgraded and a bunch of health packs.

So yeah, the game is a nice experience, with some scares that are not really as cheap as I expected and lots of satisfying action. Oh, and very gory, but always more shocking than gross, which is good.

If you like to have a good balance between horror and action this might be your game.
