An exllent sequel and a great game in its own right.

Dead Space 2 is a survival horror game and is a sequel to the original Dead Space. Players will once again take on the role of Isaac Clark as he once again has to take on the dangerous nechromorphs and find out what the heck is going on. The story picks up three years after the events of Dead Space and finds Isaac on a space station known as the sprawl where another nechromorph outbreak is taking place. Only this time there are other forces at work and Isaac now have has to deal with the side effects from his first encounter with an object known as the marker.

Dead Space 2's graphics are all round solid and a good step up from Dead Space. There is a great amount of attention to detail from the character models right up to the environment. This attention to detail gives the impression that until recently the Sprawl was probably an ok place to live until the nechromorph outbreak gave it an extreme makeover. Further adding to this the effects and holograms seem much more lifelike and more as one might expect them to be given the level of development. However the fear factor has been toned down a bit in that the players no longer navigate dark dank hallways like they did in Dead Space. Instead for the most part the locations but for the most part they will navigate brightly lit hallways and fairly open environments with a good amount of breathing room. On plus side players will still encounter some the narrow corridors and players will get attacked by enemies but these instances aren't all that frequent.

Dead Space 2's gameplay is all round solid but at the same it doesn't really add anything new to the formula. The basic principle of shooting the nechromorphs limbs off to kill them still applies but this time players will have not only rely on their aiming and guns to get by but also by using other object to help deal with the nechromorphs. The reliance of both guns and Telekinesis or TK for short to grab objects to attack their foes with is new and is essential as players will not always have enough ammo to deal with their foes. On the plus side players will get to use allot of the original games that were featured in the original Dead Space and will be able to use some new guns as well. These new guns feel just right and blend perfectly with old favourites.

Dead Space 2's audio is spot and sounds great. For starters Isaac Clark now has a voice and no longer the silent protagonist. The voice actor voicing him does a great job of bringing this character to life and establishes Isaac as a character that has his demons but is also bent on putting an end the nightmare that threatens to consume him. The other voice actors do a great job bringing their respective characters life and making them feel believable.

On a side note Dead Space 2 also comes in 2 editions both the standard and limited editions. Depending on where players the availability of either may very but players would be wise to get the limited edition as it includes Dead Space Extraction on the disc but even after player install the game they will still need the disc in the machine in order to play it. This bonus game included with the limited edition makes getting it over the standard edition worth their while as it's like getting two games for the price of one and Dead Space Extraction also features its own set of trophies separate from Dead Space 2.

Overall Dead Space 2 is great game and while it may not bring anything really new to the survival horror genera it does provide a great experience and is a worth sequel to Dead Space.
