Another great installment to the best series of this generation!
Overall, the game is great. Again my favorite part of the game, much like that of the first, is the atmosphere created by the developers. Running through the Sprawl is an amazing experience. As I was chopping away at the various necromorphs, I would occasionally stop and check out the windows looking out into space. Each one of the viewpoints provided a wonderfully detailed look at the surrounding vistas. This really added a lot to the game I felt, even though it is an extremely small portion to the game.
The gameplay is great again. It is an absolutely great experience blasting nasty necros limb from limb. The addition of a couple pretty cool new weapons was a nice addition, but to tell you the truth I could have just simply went through with my Plasma Cutter again. The controls felt a little bit tighter this time around, which was a nice added bonus, but I think this was needed because the game was much more action oriented.
One of the biggest misses I felt in the game had to do with the use of the tunnels that the main character needed to use. This could have been a place for a great amount of tension and some pretty wicked scares, but they were few and far between. I would have loved to battle some necromorphs in these insanely tight spaces, which could have added a whole different element to the game.
Overall, this was a great game. I don't think it had the impact that the original did, but that would be very difficult to duplicate. You definitely need to head out an pick this up and get some playtime logged, because it is another great Dead Space experience. Hopefully they get Dead Space 3 out before this generation dies!
