It's resident evil meets Aliens. Like something out of H.R. Geiger's psyche, this game has me so tensed and watching every corner, every vending machine, and every shadow, petrified to open the next corridor hatch. And I couldn't be happier. The graphics are perfection and the absolutely eerie lighting makes this game a masterpiece. I never played the original, so maybe I;m gushing a bit much. If you;re sick of the WWII FPS glut out there, pick this one up. It's an intergalactic haunting that should be experienced. One of the elements that works so superbly for this game and franchise is the fact that Isaac isn't a soldier. He's an engineer. And the weapons and suits reflect that, as if you are just using whatever lethal industrial equipment you can pick up that;s been left in the space hangar. This one has really done it;s homework and grabbed the slickest elements that have worked over many years of sci-fi horror. I think we can finally put Resident Evil to rest and crown this one it's successor in soliciting an audible yelp from it's players in a darkened room. F.E.A.R. 2 - Eat your heart out.
