A cheap storyline, but a great concept is added to the gaming world. Sit back, relax and slay some zombies!
Dead Rising is a game that lets players sit back, relax and ride over zombies on a lawnmower. This game has a very basic story, but it was intended too, because the whole reason Capcom made this game was to let players play a zombie game without all the deep storylines and conspiracy work. Of course, it wouldn't be wrong to take in the story either as it will make you more satisfied once you complete the game. The story is basically like George A Romero's hit movie, Dawn of the Dead. It stars a freelance journalist, Frank West, as he flies to a small town in Colorado to investigate mysterious story involving a weird outbreak. Pretty soon, Frank finds himself in a large mall infested with hungry zombies. Gameplay starts with you battling your way through roughly about 1000 zombies and getting to safety in a security room. In the room is two agents, Jessica and Brad and the janitor, Otis.
Your main aim in the game is surviving 72 hours in the mall, because in 72 hours your helicopter is due to come and pick you up. Now, what to do in 3 whole days in a zombie infested mall? Well, Otis will tell you just what to do. Otis will give you a walkie talkie device that allows him to contact you whenever he chooses. And believe me Otis will call. And call. And call. Until you answer. He will even phone you when you're almost dead! If you decide to hang up on him, he will call you until you answer just to tell you that you're very rude for hanging up on someone. Anyway, aside from trying to survive for 3 days, Otis will keep you busy bringing survivors, that he sees on the monitors, back to the safety of the security room. There are a lot of survivors that need rescued and there's a really frustrating survivour who's so fat he won't come with you unless you bring him food to eat first. If I were Frank I'd be like "Screw you!".
The weapons in this game is something that makes Dead Rising stand out from the rest of your average zombie slaying games. There are hundreds of weapons in the mall at your disposal ranging from shopping karts, water pistols, samurai swords, lawnmowers, hedge clippers, footballs and even skateboards! You will no doubt be splitting your sides with laughter at some of the insane ways to slay the zombies.
The bosses in this game aren't what you'd expect. They aren't zombies or super mutated monsters. Instead, they're normal people. Survivours that have went insane and started killing zombies and humans. You'll encounter strange ones like Jo the morbidly obese lesbian police officer who likes to kidnap female survivours and tie them up. Yes, I know! You'll even encounter a strange cult that sacrifice humans to their mighty god.
This game is a must have for any zombie fan!
