A small taste of Dead Rising 2 for less than the price of a meal!
Now, despite the quality of Case Zero, it is very important to note that the game is very VERY short. I completed 2 and a half playthroughs in about 4 hours, in the process gaining every achievement. A more skilled gamer could likely do what I did in about half the time. Case Zero may be brief, but it has a lot to offer.
What is immediately apparent about Case Zero are the production values. The game looks fantastic, which comes as no surprise. The gameplay is pretty much what one would expect, it is familiar to anyone who has played the original Dead Rising, but offers a few key refinements. Guns are a lot easier to use, with aiming handled more like a conventional third person shooter. The ability to combine weapons adds a great deal of variety to the ways you can approach combat, and has the player wracking their brains for new combinations and scouring the town to find the next combine-able item.
Case Zero's approach to familiarizing the player with Dead Rising 2's gameplay, whilst offering an independent story, and progress that can be carried over into Dead Rising 2, is simply brilliant. And while some people may feel like they are being milked, or paying for a demo, the low price of admission should assuage concerns. Are you ready for Dead Rising 2? After playing Case Zero, you can be sure you are prepared to face the zombie hordes of Fortune City.
