For it being targeted to a mostly male demographic, DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball doesn't quit deliver the experience...
I appreciate the thought of having so much to collect and to unlock...and if you're the type of gamer that loves to have the satisfaction of exploring every corner of this game (besides the "visual landscapes" of the girls) then fine...you have a game here that has more than enough for you to unlock.
But...this game itself is at a loss for me. The essential part of the gameplay could have had so much potential if a little more would have been added to it. The actual game of volleyball for instance wasn't really all that great. Sure...it's a bit of mindless fun and let's be honest, voyeurism. But, if Tecmo would have added in a little more to this game than what it did, it may have been a better gaming experience.
This game is only for the true hardcore Dead or Alive fans to completely appreciate the overall package. Of course, it goes without saying that anyone who is into the whole girls at the beach thing will obviously enjoy those moments of visual escapade...which is probably any male. :)
But for someone looking for an actual good sports game with great rewards for actually playing volleyball instead of just gawking at the girls...this is a pass. If they had gone a little deeper into the girls' progression in their playing skill...and had some more playing mechanics instead of just mindlessly hitting the buttons to lobb th e ball back and forth, then I personally would promote this game a bit more.
But...for what it is...girls in bikinis playing beach volleyball...you pretty much get what's on the cover of the box...and unfortunately...not much else.
