I was genuinely surprised with this game. From what I'd seen I thought it would mostly be a repackaging of old material, with little to offer. The truth is however, that if you've ever been a fan of the DOA series, this game is for you. There's just a unique flair (graphical and otherwise) that's fantastic about this whole series, and it's fun to be able to play two generations of this in one game. Also, the gameplay of both has been nicely balanced, and although you CAN find patterns in the AI (the day that you can't is the day that the term "AI" and not "complex scripting" SHOULD be applied to a game) it's by no means easy to exploit them at all difficulty levels. One of the best things about the whole series, and this edition in particular is that no two characters have even REMOTELY similar moves, from the basic punch to a basic kick. This is good, because you wouldn't EXPECT a teenage kunoichi to have the same kind of punch, kick, throw, etc as an aging Kung Fu master. Even more than recent games like Soul Caliber 2 and MK:D, these distinct styles suck you in IMMIDIATLY. My favorite is the young woman who's a tai chi master... her style is just so unique, I find myself moving around in time to her throws. All in all, if you like good fighting games with an emphasis on combat more than just tossing fireballs, this is for you.
