Best thing bout this game? even if its the same graphic engine among all of the fighters available DOA Dimensions is the only 1 made specifically for the 3ds.
If I had a 3DS and wanted a fighter I'd chosse this over Street Fighter since I already have Super Street Fighter 4 for the 360.
@metaltorn I'm just comparing the characters on SFIV and DOAD, just saying that, if one is lame, then the other is also. And yeah they might need another engine but they won't make it on the 3DS, they'll try to change the engine on consoles, when DoA five comes (or never). It's not time to make graphical upgrades 'cause the 3DS won't be able to take it. I still think it looks good enought.
and ohhhhhhh..... yeah say wat u want but they need a different graphics engine its been practically the same for more than a decade.
@Leir_Bag dude really your defending a lame story wow. the luchador cook is lame too but thats an other game. but at least thats more believable then the scientist luchador. but i understand
@metaltorn ; ohh really? A luchador scientist on DoA is stuped, but nobody says anything about a luchador cook on Street Fighter IV. Please, if you're going to trash a fighting game as good as DoA, get another reason to do it. Me, I just don't see a reason not to buy, great visuals, big boobed chics and some great fighting. It's just anything I want.
Uhmmm... what was the point of making this game??? Laggy online play, and 3D effect drops the framerate?! No thanks, I'm just fine with Dead Or Alive Ultimate...
Fun game...but without the 3D effects its just another DOA game, Basicly Same everything cool game modes, easyer controlls and thats it. Played the crap out of the Old games so I give this a Meh But with 3d On its OoO shiny.
Having not played a 3DS yet, I'm pretty impressed with the visuals. The game looks good but its just typical DOA really. The stories are always rubbish in asian 'konami' style games with even worse english voice acting! It will be a hit on the 3DS though. Can't beat a decent beat em' up from time to time.
guys...u cant compare the quality of this video to the actual top notch quality on 3ds! You can control how much 3d u want so the quality if u use less 3d gets even better but still great on full 3d. just been playing tag team and its so awesome. Just like watching a top notch martial atrs movie! haha i dont care if was losing cos i was enjoying watching the awesome moves my opponents and my tag partner keep pulling off! the higher level u go on tag challenge the opponents gets harder...way harder!!
This is what I don't like about the 3DS. A game which should be run in 60FPS, but goes at 30FPS in 3D mode. What is the point in the 3D if you have the reduction in speed. 30FPS is ok for some games maybe, but not for fighting games.
as of yet there is no way to use a capture card on a 3DS, hence the use of a camera to film the gameplay, therefore 'bad' quality. Just a guess
I believe the video is bad quality because the 3DS screen is smaller than the video's screen, so it's stretched a little which makes it blurry... I don't know if that's right, just a guess =P
Surely no-one playes DOA or NG games with the English voice option - Japanese is the way to go! - Ippon! Btw- are there plenty of costumes / extras to unlock? DOA:Ultimate offered loads - & imo this [DOAU] was the best console DOA game yet. Now I just need a NG title for 3DS to convince me to buy one ;)
Why was the time bomb disarmed? It could have been match point if that squad acted quickly enough...
I hope Nintendo or some third party hardware modder provides a way to make proper video capture of 3DS games in the near future.
@ssjdagas What do you mean? New characters, stages, and costumes, changed movesets, game tweaks, voices when they get hurt. What more does it take to make a fighting game "evolved," make it into a completely new game?
Seems like the same thing as always. DoA hasn't really evolved since DoA2 from over a decade ago.
What's this? Occasional static cut-scenes? I don't know if that's a stylistic choice but to me that's just lazy.
The first thing i did when i bought this game: switch to Japanese voice acting. This game's awesome though, definitely one of the best games for the 3ds out now.
@ R L X and A are all attacks B is grab and Y Is block Plenty of combos, and the counter system is very deep
Who's the genius who had the idea of including 3D footage on the whole review? The graphics look like antenna tvs with back reception.
Reasonable review.While i wholeheartedly agree on alot of points raised, saying the chronicle mode is unfollowable is just plain silly, i followed what happens perfectly it''s just down to the fact that what happans is utterly ridiculous like something out of a comic book, but isn't that the whole point? Also i prefer to play in 3D and never really noticed the framerate jump in normal until i read this review, it does jump, but it has little effect on the actual combat, and i enjoy the 3D effect so rarely turn it off. Online is laggy, and you notice that your character doesn't react to the combo you just pressed until nearly half a second to a second later, which in this fast fighting game is very noticeable.Local play however is awesome as is tag mode with a friend, much better than the stupid COM helping you. Overall this is up there with Street Fighter 4 and the 3DS now has two very good Fun and furious fighting games, brilliant start.
also why has gamespot used such cheap recording equipment for this video? the other 3ds games had higher quality videos?
its great with the 3d on, you can notice that its a little less smooth but ive played dead or alive since the 2nd one it doesnt bother me. Also to anyone else whose played chronicle mode, did you find it that confussing? i thought it was pretty good
The voice acting isn't as bad as some other games, but it's not very good. :P The game itself is fun nonetheless, and only two attack buttons shouldn't be a turnoff.
"You'll want to play with the 3D off" This is sort of becoming the pattern with the 3DS isn't it really? I think most people would prefer a cheaper console with no 3D and playable games at 60fps than this expensive mess. I mean yeah it helped it sell (for some people) but it also stopped parents buying it for their kids who they didn't want to go cross-eyed.
