Dead Island is an FPS game that combines the elements of Horror and RPG.

-- Story -- 70/100 --
The game is set in the fictional island of Banoi, located off the coast of Papua New Guinea. The main characters wake up in the Palms Resort hotel to find the island attacked by zombies and mysteriously, they are immune to whatever is making people into zombies. As they try to find and help other survivors, they must also find a way to escape the island as well. The players go through a series of both main and side quests. First they help stabilize the lifeguard center and bring supplies. The characters maintain contact via radio with the mysterious Colonel White who leads the characters into the jungle to find the source of the infection.

-- Visuals -- 80/100 --
Possibly the weakest aspect of the game, with a variety of visual glitches and obvious texture pop-in. With all of these problem the graphics are not that horrible for the console version, Zombies looks awesome, Levels are both beautiful and cleverly designed. Overall a score that should not bother the overall experience.

-- Audio -- 85/100 --
While the voice work for most of the characters are bad, the zombies growls the environment and other effects for the most time do their job really good.

-- Gameplay -- 90/100 --
Great fun with a team and almost as good solo. There are a few niggles with combat that can boil over into frustration at times, but the overall balance is spot on. Also the game's realism setting is quite awesome and it looks great when zombies knock you out, when your vehicle is broken and when you look into the water. An island paradise full of zombies and tension. This is a well-crafted action game with a superb RPG backbone, not to mention a superb co-op experience.

-- FINAL VERDICT -- 8.5/10 --
Dead Island surprised us by being a tightly crafted experience, full of interesting locales and intriguing missions. It can lose its way at times, but you will find yourself coming back for one more go time and time again, as crippling zombies and saving bikini clad females never gets dull. Losing yourself on Banoi will feel like the vacation from hell, but you'll love it.
