Play Slow Die Ignorant - Nov 19, 2012 9:18 am GMTGet as many sharp weapons as you can with her. She can not take many hits at all so use your kick to stun them then attack. Also learn to dodge if need be when attacking. By pressing down on the joystick while pressing A.

"Hank if you're steering then who's taking off your shirt!!!" -Dale Gribble - Nov 19, 2012 11:48 am GMTxian is tougher at the start because she is physically weaker/takes more damage because she's the glass cannon/thief/backstab build.
early on, learn to climb cars to reduce how many people are hitting you at once. don't repair things above 90% - it's a rip off, wait until they are below 90% to repair them.
try to take on one or two zombies at a time, not the groups
zombies are mostly tied to home zones, so if you keep running from them they give up and go back to their zone.
with xian, take perks that increase damage and crits, not the ones that extend the length of bleeding or poison - but the ones that increase the damage output. when you get a cruit on them, they die within one or two retches (even thugs) -it's a waste to spend points on increasing how long they take damage.
the rage tree is really powerful for all builds. with xian you can increase her speed and turn into a tasmanian devil with knives.
if you're struggling with an area, team up with another palyer. - Nov 19, 2012 11:18 pm GMTDon't use save edits.
Xian was my first character too. She has slighty lower health than the others (you'll see later on). But don't let that discourage you. Grab some mods and get your Wakizashi's and Katana's and Machetes. I rarely kept the tonta's or slicers since I like some range. Now here's the hard part: exploring for orange or purple sharp weapons is a pain. lockboxes will want to give you crap you can't fully utilize for Xian such as sledgehammers and defective pistols. What I did was make a mental note of lockboxes that weren't near a lot of zombies and everytime I started my game up I checked those boxes. This way I could either sell what I didn't want for repairs/upgrades, and once I finally got my machetes and swords I went on with the game.
Don't try to rush through this game if you do it solo. You'll regret it.

Don't use save edits.
Any particular reason you suggest this? I prefer to use save edits, but I only play offline and never take that stuff online.

The reason I ask is because the game saves frequently, and any interruption while the game may happen to be saving will result in a corrupt file.
I knew someone who was doing this and was getting pissed off that he kept getting a corrupted file. He was blaming the game, but when I happened to watch him play I noticed he was playing and would just eject the disc when finished, and when he would go back to it it would have a corrupted file.
I told him he was being a dumb-ass because he was the one causing the corrupted files by ejecting the game like that while in mid-play.
He stopped doing that and hasn't had a corrupted save yet.
Also.....
the game by default puts you On-line whether you want to be or not.
If you plan on playing solo, then go into the main menu & On-line options and make sure that you set it to Off-line.
You'll get a better performance that way.
And then when you want to play On-line, set it to On-line mode again.
I would also stop using the save edit.
You don't need it, and could also be the problem. - Nov 23, 2012 9:53 pm GMTIt likely is the problem as I have a different game with no corrupting saves.
And Im very meticulous about my console. I always back out through menus then dashboard then power down. Having an 08 console I take no chances haha

Son we might be related. - Nov 25, 2012 6:51 am GMTIf you're still having trouble, be sure to backpedal while fighting zombies (just not into another's waiting arms). Step closer, bash, bash again if they stumble back, then step back.
If you're fighting those muscle zombies, use that tactic to break his arms before going for the kill. He'll be (mostly) harmless, swinging limp, broken arms with about as much success as you'd expect. But he can still headbutt you.
If you're having combat trouble, make sure to play on Digital combat controls. Analog is far more accurate, fun, and tense, but Digital is very simple if fighting is giving you problems. As I've never played Digital, I don't have any tips regarding that.
If you kick a zombie while it's in it's "stumbling forward attack" it'll make it lose balance and possibly fall over. Either way, buying enough time to kill it. The "stomping" perk is one of the best points you can spend.
Pray to every god you've ever heard of when you first encounter Infected.
And only kick beachballs if you feel like taking your life into your own hands.

At the beach, apparently some of the beach balls will explode if you kick them. It hasn't happened to me yet but thats what I heard.

---
Play Slow Die Ignorant - Nov 25, 2012 11:45 am GMTDon't temp it. If they bounce back against a dock or wall, they will absolutely murder you lol.
I guess more legit advice - when you get to the jungle, the riverside village always stocks full ammunition. So you can just travel there and stock up anytime you're low.

chrisAAMO - Nov 25, 2012 7:38 pm GMTA few general tips.
1. Kick is your very best friend, and a running jump kick will put just about any zombie enemy right on its ass. It takes a little practice to get the timing right, but its well worth it.
2. If you've got a zombie down, take a second to line up a head shot and try to either crush the scull (with blunt weapons) or cut off the head (with bladed weapons). If they're standing and attacking you, aim for arms and legs to interrupt attacks and put them on their knees.
3. Hit and run is definitely the name of the game here. You can dodge by pressing jump and a direction, and that helps a lot when trying to stay out of the reach of Thugs, or not getting surrounded by Walkers.

Best advice: trade this crap game in for a better game.
PS - if u think the game is actually hard at the start, just wait till u get to Act II. Then the cheating really begins. - Dec 8, 2012 12:26 pm GMTFrom: Woozle_Wuzzle | #015

I'm not going to ask why you're here for a game you so strongly dislike, or make fun of games you enjoy playing, but I'd like to hear some of your other game recommendations.

Simple, he sucks. - Dec 9, 2012 4:17 am GMTI think that's probably it - most complaints on this board are people who just wanted to slaughter lots of zombies, or hate that zombies level with you, or want to charge into a horde with just a baseball bat and come out alive.
I imagine many still here played it before the "easy mode patch," back when the game really shined. Endless infected? Butcher ambushes? Trolling item inventory? Yes please, lol.
I just didn't want to jump to any conclusions.
---
chrisAAMO - Dec 11, 2012 9:06 am GMTI own the original game and beaten it twice in single player, and still don't have any patches for it, so I am always playing on "hard mode" the only thing I have a problem with is suiciders (in small spaces), its like the guy says "Well, I'm dead anyway, let me just eat this huge pile of explosives."
I didn't want to spoil myself, so I didn't know that the endless infected needed a patch, they couldn't wait to kick my butt. - Dec 11, 2012 3:51 pm GMTaamot posted...

There are certain spots where infected keep showing up even after the patch. As for Butchers, I wouldn't really know the entire habits of them because I only killed 2. And it was only because it was part of the main story. I'm not revisiting areas where they are playing solo.
