Well this is nice and eee... oops. what? start the whole level over!?
It's pretty obvious that this was out on a nintendo first - it looks like a nintendo game - and it plays like one. The graphics are up to par and I haven't had any issues at all while playing. In fact - every time I sit down to turn the system on I reach for this disc first ...
The game is easy to play - turn it on and you'll get the basics right away. Controls are simple and easy , although you will need to familiarize yourself with the camera before you start getting to crazy. As you run and jump around the world coloring it in and freeing enslaved citizens and searching out hidden goodies you will inevitably come across the harsh knife edge of this game ... instant deaths.
If you make a mistake in this game it is very unforgiving .. die and you start the whole level over again. Die twice and your game is over. You can pick up extra lives and all that if you look around enough.
This game is sort of deceiving in the way that it looks super easy and childish and is basic and fun - but at the same time it is relentlessly harsh when you make the wrong move. What really sucks is when you are almost finished a level and almost out of time ( there are timers for most levels ) and you die - it starts yo off way at the beginning of the level but with no added/extra time ... so if you were at the end and about to finish with ten seconds left and you die - you spawn with ten seconds left to make it all the way across the map ... impossible.
aside from the chainsaw in the back pocket this game is amazing - and frankly I kind of like that it has this unforgiving quality to it ... it makes the fun/cute part of it a little edgier.
This game is fun - entertaining - and as a great sense of humor. the scenes between levels are great - and there are some witty bits of social commentary in there that made me smile when I watched them!
Recommended for gamers that want something a bit different .. also a great kids game , and it would be an awesome kids game if it had no time limits.
