Helicopter simulators just had the bar raised.

You come to a auto hover behind a hill, pop up to scan the next valley with your shkval targeting system. Gather info and intell, prioritise targets, create a datalink to share with your wingman and strike. Mercilessly you devour your prey and crush them.

The Ka-50 might not be the most sophisticated gunship around, but the execution of the simulator makes it the most sophisticated gunship ever in a `game`. My first checklist take off took me a good seven minutes. From switching on the batteries, opening the various fuel valves and governors for starting the APU to calibrating your analog dials. It`s all there, and that is only the helicopter side of things, not even touching the weapon systems.

I used to love flying choppers in FSX but somehow they feel a bit hollow now, I`d much rather just take the Hokum out for a flight in the Caucass mountains and take in the sights of this beautiful part of the world.

So in conclusion - if you like your simulators to be rich, you have a winner here. If you like your modern day battlefield to be hectic, yup you guessed it - winner. Its not a massive system hog and the graphics are well done, the damage modeling is really a cut above the rest - get hit in the right spot with a AK-47 and the model will show it and of course the system that was hit might not work anymore.

Finally, I suggest getting all the necessary control bits, collective, hat joystick and pedals - and maybe even a homemade trackir, because for this simulator nothing but the best will do!
