GameSpot powers up in this Comic-Con 2010 interview for DC Universe Online.
... Yes you create your own super hero/villain! Have you ever played an MMOG before? This game is about creating your alternate persona in the DC Universe, creating your own story that will intermingle with Superman and Batman, along with a plethora of other heroes and villains. It will cost $15 a month but that's how MMOG's operate now days. If you think that's a rip then don't play it.. herpa derp go to gamestop and buy/trade your used games troglodytes!
So wait...You don't get to create your own Hero or Villain? Hmm...So how does this work? can their only be ONE Joker and ONE Batman on each server? I could live with that. But Im really not trying to see multiple Batmans running around.
i hope theres no monthly payments and you can play online for free :\
cool. yes it sucks i only got a x360 but i want a ps3 too and i saw this game @ comicon and it looks good. dude mark hamil is always the best joker. use the force luke
It kills me how people judge a game before anyone even has a chance to play it.
I have high hopes that all of you 'kids' who are complaining about how lame this game is and how much it is going to cost, live up to your words and DON'T but it. I would much rather enjoy an environment of older players who like the comic world and will love playing their heroes and favorite villians. To dream of an MMO session without all the social immature crap that passes for conversation would be bliss.
This is gonna be a bust...
Developed by SoE = I won't touch even touch it with a 10 foot pole.
I hope that they have a change of heart and have the initial price for the game the only price. A lot more people will buy it that way and everyone will be happier. Don't be stupid, game!
completely lost. so youre playing pvp but u do missions to unlock other characters and get loot? but for what.
this looks nothing in comparison to the trailer
AWSOME
the game looks good but who wants to play a online game of multiple super heros..... champions online is better :) you can create your own character and some bad ones i might add.
DC Universe Online -This looks like every other stupid "link your bank account" game in existence. When it plays like the trailer I will buy it, Awesome trailor by the way. Until then, they will have to make their money off the compromising losers that subscribe to these overlay games. November 2, 2010- DC losing points- lame sellout in bad economy- DC knows right and wrong- Sell game once NOT rent- Over-used game engine for profits- Maybe change heart ... or lose it all. Maybe goodbye old friend- no movie, no books, nothing ever again. We will see. --Rorschach--
Why the thumbs down for Dragonsingh3000? The game is actually looking good,
This game is going to imo suck alot of comic fans into a boring, repetitive game. Its not a bad idea what theyre doing but i their going about it the wrong way with the simulation crap and characters to be unlocked later. If you ask me its nothing but a cheap money grab, (comic fans+$15per head).....Kaching. I bet if this hits off that 15 will become 30.
It looks like a silly button masher with a terrible GUI. I am bored of these fights already...
You know I see constant complaints with MMORPG's talking about how people want them all to be free but honestly I don't mind paying the money to get a game that is constantly being improved on. Fifteen dollars to me is a fair price to ask when I think about how much some other things are that people do for enjoyment like smoking.
looking and sounding better and better
@TrinityChica14 My points not moot. This game will live or die based on how many people will pay the subscription. I see a lot of posts saying no way. An empty MMO doesn't work. That being said after seeing the intro video I know that I will be paying for a years subscription to start with.
$15 a month since the 90s. Cheap entertainment. Do the math. Otherwise wait for the bargain bins for cheap games sons. Yay for a ps3 mmorpg ^^
... Aaaand my wish came true! http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/23/stroke-of-genius-okamis-amaterasu-in-marvel-vs-capcom-3/#continued
This game looks boring!
@Arther-la-Blunt I agree i also think the same about Harley..
I don't get it. I thought it was going to be an MMORPG. But I guess not, looks more like a 3D Dungeon Fighter game.
this game looks awesome but 15 dollars??? is that for PS3 to??!?!? :(
Why is the vid not playing???? GAMESPOT FIX THIS ASAP
@kishona Im most def with u on havin mike keaton as batman thru all the flicks! this game is gonna be sick as hell with all the fan service and so many ways 2 expand it, Im all giddy 4 it cant wait. but I do think 15 bones a month is a lil much but if its worth it then so be it, hey if boring ass WOW can do it then I guess it'll be worth it. oh and I 2 am a lil madd they switched the way tha Joker now looks like as opposed 2 whut he did at 1st. I have faith this is gonna turn heads when it drops in a real good way!
WOW THIS GAME LOOKS TERRIBLE. they charge you $15 a month for being an idiot and actually buying this game.
@darthwarmonger World of Warcraft is the exact same price and millions of people think it is worth it...that's my point! not to mention to buy all the WoW games it costs more that $60 bucks so therefore my original point about this being DC fans WoW...my point is still valid and your point is moot.
I have been waiting for over 2 years for this game, when i 1st heard about it, im glad its finally comming out this year
@TrinityChica14 $15.00 a month is a lot of money. $60 for a game plus $180 for a years subscription. Means this game has to be worth $240.00. I really want this game, and would buy it day 1 if it didn't have a subscription. As of right now I'm taking a wait and see approach. I understand the need to charge for an MMO and wish their was a different model available.
This game is quickly becoming my number one most anticipated game of the season. The gameplay and graphics look better and better every time there's a new video!!!
if you don't like the monthly fee than don't buy it! we don't hate of WoW so BITE ME! :P
you know I'm sick of people hating because they are charging a $15 monthly fee...World of Warcraft does and no one complains there! This game will be like a Comic Book Fan/DC Universe fan's version of World of Warcraft!
i agree with Arther-la-Blunt he is right arkhams batman looks much better
I really can't stand the way Joker looks in this game. I like Joker from Arkham Asylum
Man am I going to get fat. I'll be playing this game when it comes out. Then, I'll be playing Star Wars: Old Republic when its released. Hmm..... there goes my summer body.:)
I love the background art for this page.
Graphics looks good but gameplay looks kind of boring. but i know this is only a short demo and there's going to be a lot more to the game than what is shown here. I hope they make Batman available at some point for people that don't pre-order. It would really suck for people that like Batman that aren't aware of this "pre-order bonus".
Wetty01, the main game isn't pre-made characters. You do create you're own character, hero or villain. This interview is just showing off a 2 vs. 2 PvP arena where you can actually play as one of the iconic characters.
I'm not sure about this, it does look fun, but I just don't see a MMO with pre-made characters, because it won't be fun to me if there is a thousand jokers and no way to customize yourself so you can differ from everyone. But it does look fun to play.
Having Kevin Conroy do the voice acting for Batman is always a great pleasure imo. His voice just adds the BANG to it. We've all heard it in the original Batman animated series and a few of the animated movies and recently in Batman Arkham Asylum, so we're all used to it. Kinda makes me wish they should've used Michael Keaton in all the Batman movies.
Indeed, it looks very promising. @Urworstnhtmare No, the preorder only unlocks Batman right from the beginning and you don't need to buy the character in-game (you win points by playing the standard pvp modes that you can use to buy characters to use in this "simulation" mode).
it looks fun, but the joker and batman just dont feel right. Having a full on punchup. The joker would go down in seconds..lol
oh man this game is gonna be bad ass...i freaking can't wait....
OH MAN! Looks so much fun ^_^
At long last the first true current gen console mmorpg. Big fan of D.C. Bigger fan of mmo's. I love everything I have seen for this game. This could be dangerous territory though because I won't be playing in an uncomfortable computer chair, but a recliner in my man cave. I'd better come up with some original excuses to miss work.
looks cool
looks fun as hell!
