A review for people desperately trying to quit WoW.

First off, this isn't like WoW. Seeing a lot of reviews that say its like WoW and I can only be puzzled as to why they say that. Few key differences: You can't fight while flying, hanging on the ceiling, or while running on the walls in WoW. You auto-attack in wow, where you can't here. You can't string together combos in WoW. You can't destroy your environment during combat in WoW, or pick up local boulders and bash your enemies to pieces with them. The only apparent similarity is that you use abilities on cooldown and have a limiting resource called "Power". This is closer to every RPG ever created than anything from WoW.

That said, this game is solid on all fronts. If you're an MMO vet like myself you know how MMO launches go, and as far as MMO launches go this has got to be the most stable I've ever seen. There are some annoying glitches occasionally such as the audio cuts out, some slowdown, some server instability, but not on the level you would expect from other starting MMOs over the past several years (think back to WAR, AoC, FFXIV). If you were waiting to see how it pans out, don't miss the opportunity to be a launch veteran, because this ship is set to sail.

The world is large and immersive. It might seem smaller as you get higher level due to speed increases from talents, but when you get into the thick of the battles breaking out across Gotham and Metropolis, the scope of the cities really swallow you in.

The customization system is years beyond anything you've experienced before. When picking your color palette, you'll be happy to find out every piece of gear you come across is painted your brand of colors, and you can adjust color settings while in game on the fly. There is a style system in the game so you can change to look the way you want to without sacrificing stats, and unlike other games that implemented this feature you don't have to keep the items in your inventory.

There are some imbalances, the most glaring from the iconic weapons. I've been noticing, however, that the slowest starters end up very strong in the end, like Dual Pistols having oodles of ranged AoE spam as a part of their combo set ups. I've experimented with almost all the power set ups and if you actually adjust your playstyle to suit the new power sets they will be very close in capability.

And the Holy (or Unholy as you might see it) trinity is still there. However tanking and healing is intuitive. There is no cursor so healing is as simple as 'this healing spell will automatically heal the weakest person" or "this is a curse on the boss so it will automatically heal the tank". Tanking is simply using your AoEs and armor spells that also deal damage or reflect damage to hold aggro. Its a great take on the trinity system.

All in all, after hearing some bad things from the beta players I'm totally sold and I'm doing everything I can to convince some of my similarly situated WoW friends to switch over. This is a solid MMO that will definitely sate your interest for a new, fun MMO.
