By far the best game of this generation

The setting is after a nuclear war and only few humans remain, this is pretty smart because it makes all types of enemies believeable. From giant scorpions to fire breathing ants to super mutants with guns, it's all part of the world. The coolest aspect is that you have total freedom on what to do. You can be good, bad, or neutral. You can spend hours upon hours exploring the world not making any progress, or shoot straight through the game doing only the main missions. Very few games are able to grant you the freedom Fallout 3 does.
The graphics are incredible. The world is pretty dead and bare, but that's the point....it's after a nuclear fallout after all. You will encounter some enemies and some interesting characters while exploring, which is a cool bonus.... The music is very laid back and gives a certain somber atmosphere to the game.
Sometimes this game can be very dark and depressing to play. Some people may not like that, but if a game is able to do that, you know it's doing something right.
The best part of the game is the combat system. It never gets old. You can play like it a fps, but don't. ......Use VATS, which will stop the action, and you can target a body part of your enemy, and it will give you a certain percentage of hitting that body part. When you fire, the action goes in slow motion, and follows your bullet....when you get a kill it is very dramatic. Your enemies head rolls off their body and falls to the ground, all in dramatic slow motion.
The only negative of this game is that in the earlier levels, it can get quite discouraging. You'll spend the first 20-30 hours just finding money and ammo and trying to survive. Leveling up will give you over-confidence and you'll take on a super mutant you couldn't kill earlier, but he still kills you. Don't get discouraged, by the time your levels are higher you'll be pretty much invincible and money and ammo won't be an issue.
If you stick through the beginning where you start out with nothing, and just work your way up by doing side quests ad finding money, Fallout 3 later becomes a real blast of a game. Strategy, thought, patience, and exploration is required to beat this game. There are very, very few games worth spending $60 on, and I must say, that Fallout 3 is one of them,
