I'm a huge fan of freelancer. In many ways this game is very similar, but it has its own unique aspects, some which i thought were really nice, some really make the game not that great.

First of all, you don't ever get to buy or fly any other spaceship other than the one you start off with. That can be a major letdown for a space sim, but thankfully theres an upgrade system that allows you to customize your ship in certain areas and also altering the way it looks. The problem is that no matter how much money you save up or how many people you kill, it wont affect your upgrades. Instead, you just fly around to certain systems and pick up the upgrade modules. Don't get me wrong, you can still use your cash to buy shields, lasers, and the like, but unless you get those upgrade modules, you cant get higher tier equipment. So in the end, you'll probably roam the galaxy with billions of credits under your belt bored to tears.....

Unfortunetly the game also lacks story. Its really nothing but a mix of events that are triggered once you complete a certain task. The voice acting is pretty bland too and the videos dont help either.

Although they did a good job making all the planets look different, you can't land on them. You can land on the space stations but the ones but they are all carbon copies of each other. Really nothing to look at there.

The combat is pretty fun, yet nothing new. I defenetly recommend a joystick for it though, but a mouse works good too.

I do recommend this game if your a hardcore space sim fan like me that cant get enough. But if you're looking for a more interesting experience, this one isnt for you.
