3 Like i love how everyone is comparing this game to God of war. Its much more a Zelda Ocarina of time influence. And yeah BTW God of war would never exist without Zelda and Shenmue.
1 Like Playing this game again in preparation of Darksiders 2...This game is just straight up fun. Better than God of War in my mind...maybe not as cinematic, but I prefer the movement, characters and lore of this game much better than GoW Series, but they both do have a place in my heart. hehe.
3 Like If you like games such as Legend of Zelda and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, you owe yourself to play this gem.

1 Like @RuthlessRich When you watch a video, check the options on the bottom rightm click the up arrow above the current pixel size (360p) for example, and you will an option to disable autoplay of the next video from loading.
Story isn't that mediocre in plot, it just the characters that aren't fleshed out enough. Gameplay overall is rock solid, but you'll want to play it on hard if you had your share of hack&slash adventure already.
3 Like Nothing to do with Darksiders but I can't stand that gamespot feels I should watch another video 7 seconds after what I'm watching finishes. I always forget to click cancel and it takes somewhere else as I'm scrolling down to read the comments. Can that be disabled?
even though this review couldn't go 40 seconds without saying it, sorry this game doesnt' have anything to do with god of war. yes they are both hack n slash action games, but ferrari and porsche both make cars, that doesn't mean the end products are so "similar".

Just played this game, got it free from pre-ordering Space Marine. Holy crap. A 8.0 is seriously generous.
Been wanting to pick this up for a long time and did just that over the weekend. This game is great!! A little underrated too I think...
fast paced combat, quick time events, puzzles, and even wings! Looks like a multi console God of War.
as with a lot of games coming out the ps3 version is the better one no tearing or slow down in this game on ps3
this is a great game . ive had the chance to pick this up in the past but thought nothin of it, what was i thinkin.....this is a gem!
Interesting game, but I don't like how the characters look. It seems a mixture of the Devil May Cry game-play and the Gears of War aesthetic. I think I will pass.
eh? I found no screen tearing or slow down. Just finished it. Fantastic story, great graphics and controls. Ive played and finished a lot of games in my time included story heavy games like the FF series so i know a good story. This game was excellent. Bad reviewer dont have a damn clue. Needs to be fired and replaced with an intelligent, experienced gamer.
I think the story was pretty cool and the ending was even cooler. Also I don't see how the game mechanics were too cumbersome; that dragon boss you are actually supposed to throw a ball in its mouth before you attempt to use the boomerang so that it won't be able to shoot any more fireballs at you while you are aiming.
This game got patched ages ago on the 360. No screen tearing and no framerate drops. This game deserves a 9. While not quite as graphically impressive as God of War 3 it is clear that Gamespot didn't play this for more than a few hours as the story becomes legendary the further into the game you go. This is the most underated game of 2010 if you ask me. Totally brilliant game. (and the controls aren't tricky like gamespot say, it's easy to get into).

Who cares about originality in a game? I've played a lot of original games that sucked. If the game is fun, it's fun. Virtually all JRPGs copy each others' core mechanics and gameplay style, only modifying the style of combat, but we don't criticize each JRPG for being like another. Instead, we take it for granted that it's part of the genre. I didn't notice any screen tearing on the Xbox 360. I am, however, playing at 720p. But I also didn't notice it playing the nearly 2 hour demo from start to finish in 1080p. Darksiders is an amazingly good game, and I can't believe it isn't more popular than it is.
