Kevin VanOrd braves life and death to bring you a video review of Dark Souls.
I can't help myself sometimes. Being able to reload saves from backups on the PC is truly divine when the time is right.
i have dark souls II and i should get the first because i was stupid to NOT to play and get the first game... by looking at dark souls, it is a MUST-GET for me... dark soul II was awesome to the very last..
I really HOPE that Dark Souls II remains true to the Souls legacy... But with the way games have been recently, I'm afraid they will try to appeal to the masses... not the true gamers... This game reminds me of NES / SNES/ PS / N64 games... When it was the game that mattered... Not graphics, not waypoints, not quicktime events, not setpieces... This game amongst the best in video game history... Hands Down
this is so hard, omg. this is for serious gamers only, i just cant play it very well at all. I much prefer games like dishonored and bioshock.
I don't get what is so fun in dying all the time. Personally I hate having to play the same parts (big parts) of a game over and over again, this already frustrates me after 3 or 4 times. So I think I will pass on this one because I fear the frustration will make me smash too many controllers. Please someone explain and convince me why I should play it.
well, I just got this game 2 days ago and it is hard, I was like: it can't be that hard and then I died, I was like oh oh I want my money back, but when I finally started progressing I got excited then I died again and again lost my souls, and said to myself, ouch, to me this feels like you have to prove to yourself you can do it, it challenges you to continue I think that is what draws you back to it, I will finish this game no matter what
@Susynoid I'll show you what someone said about this game because I couldn't have said it any better...Jan 29, 2013
i bought the game .... played it ... hated the repetition in combat and all the dying... did not feel like continuing .... then a friend persuaded me to try investing a little more time.... I am thankful to him.... to all the people who are frustrated .... "Atleast kill the Tauras demon and proceed a little and see a whole lot of things DS has to offer ... There is a reason why you have repetitive combat .. But you have to stick with it a while and be patient to understand .....
@Susynoid Lol! Nobody has to convince you to play anything, dude! Will I get some money if I do? Play what you wanto to play and be happy.
Really good game but unless you have a strategy guide you don't have a clue how to get the special weapons and armors, my only small complain. Hopefully the characters you interact with will give us more info in DS2.
@Redley911 that would ruin what made Dark Souls and Demon's Souls so unique
I will definitely be getting this game.I have over 600 hours in skyrim and have been gaming since space invaders and am constantly looking for agame to fill the void. This looks like that game.Anybody know about how many hours of gameplay people are getting with this?
@omninigkill at least 60 first play trough
@omninigkill Game completion time for newcomers varies quite a bit but it's usually anywhere from 50 to 70 hours.
But be warned, this game is vastly different from Skyrim. You will need to think about every engagement and learn to be patient, especially when fighting multiple enemies at once. Most importantly, you will need to learn that death is truly not an obstacle and is a core mechanic. In order to make it through the game you HAVE to die many times.
Don't be disheartened if at first you don't succeed, look online for help when you think it is needed. Once you figure out the game you realize it is a masterpiece.
@Curlidee there is a story, you just have to figure it out... But once you do its one of the best stories in video games
U love to hate this game, it's amazing, it's dark, it's a challenge,It's gorgeous, it rewards careful thinking, patience and good tactics. u will quit in rage when it gets tough, but when u finally beat it u feel u have just won world war 3. This game is simply a master piece don't miss it if u love RPG game's 10/10 the only criticism i have for this game is the frame rate drops very slightly at times on the 360 version other than that it's perfect.
Dark Souls is a beautiful game, it's difficulty isn't off putting (though you will rage quit on more than one occasion). The challenging enemy's, ridiculous monsters, treasure, content, beautiful graphics, dramatic action will have you on the edge of your chair within minutes. A must have for ps3 owners !0/10
I'm more of a fan of Kingdoms Of Amalur Reckoning. I'm thinking of buying Dark Souls but I'm so picky when it comes to rpgs.
I wonder what all the people who call this hard would say if they played some old arcade classics that were DESIGNED to take your money by killing you often.
I really want the game, but people say its really friken hard. But at the same time it looks so fun! :/
@kike13511 Just wait to beat a boss and the feeling is so intense! Every area you can discover feels like a reward. It's a must try trust me.
Without a doubt you have to at least try it. Hard? Yes. Worth it? Yes.
@kike13511 It is REALLY hard..but very rewarding...once you figure it out...after you die 1000 times..you will get the hang of it..and it's addicting at times...once you join a "covenant"..you can summons people to help you...if you need help...friend request me on PSN (if u have PS3) my SN is miggity106.
