Check out the announcement trailer for Dark Souls.
@Victorprodos Yep, from three to five times harder according to From Software. Not gonna turn into a cheap game either as they're staying true to Demon's Souls concepts. Which means... from three to five times more rewarding. :)
@Maxxgold There are "sissies" in Demon's Souls as well. About 60% of the community will DC when they're about to get killed by a BP. Btw, playing a challenging game doesn't make you manly.
Now that is the music we love for Dark Souls. Not the trash in the Bartholemew Trailer.
hey whats going on with the hi-res download are they making us buy the upgrade
This is going to be awesome !! just like demons souls . But I have the impression that this is going to be more difficult than demon's souls . Hell yeah !!

The only people that don't like Demon Souls are the sissies that have no skill and can't play it. That's why I like this game so much it separates the men from the pantie wastes.
The most fun I'll ever have getting raped in battle
hellz to the yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALRIGHT!
gonna be sick nasty son
@psycho325 what do u mean the controls are clumsy? demon's souls have the most intuitive and best controls i've ever seen in a video game. u must be one of those guys who needs a ******** menu to select an attack to execute lol. and what do u mean it's difficult for a wrong reason? games that are difficult for the wrong reason are those that u need to grind and upgrade ur weapon in order to finish it. ie: in FF13, do u stand a chance against the final boss if u avoided every boring fights, and not farming for better weapons?
@tlow0678 Ya I go "cool story bro" about this myself. I was drunk when I posted that wall'o'text, even tho I still agree with it
@Rovelius Normally i would take your side, being that i love some Demon's Souls, but dude....chillout. No need to get so huff n puffed about video games.

@Rovelius Unfortunately, you, sir, are wrong. I am talking about games like The Elder Scrolls, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout 3, Mass Effects 1 and 2, ie: video games that keep me enthralled by either their gameplay, intelligent narrative, sheer beauty, or any combination of the three, and, for those same reasons, move the game industry forward. I derive no pleasure from any game such as Demon's Souls that provides mediocre visuals, an asinine story, and an obnoxiously punishing combat system. Gamers like you are a thorn in my side. @psycho325 I agree. Mass Effect 2 is my favorite game of all time, and Oblivion was the game that made me love RPGs and brought me headfirst into the serious gaming.
Why is it ps3 gets the sequels to awesome 360 "exclusives" and 360 gets this? i mean demons souls and this one are all about visuals and the gameplay does nothing for me. the controls are too clumsy and i do enjoy the fact that it's difficult but it's difficult for the wrong reasons. my money is still going towards mass effect and skyrim.
@cutdownb692003 Right. Let's casualize one of the few hardcore games still around. Don't you understand the whole point of this game?
@lampshade820 You might as well go and rent a movie then. What you're talking about are not video games.
I just finally borrowed my brother's PS3 and beat Demon's Souls and WOW. Finally felt challenged by a game for the first time in forever and it was GREAT(tony tiger style). This is now officially my most anticipated title of 2011. With Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim riding closely behind on its coattails. Can't wait for Dark Souls.
Demon's Souls was a cooler name...
hope this one will have an "alternative way" to farm souls if we are to level up using them. I did finish NG without using any glitches but after that I made my char 712 lvl in NG+. It was a frustrating game having a few checkpoints would make it appealing to a larger number of people. Not like having your ass kicked for 6 hours until' you finally beat penetrator
lull the dark one back to it's slumber
I hope they give you a lot more places to explore than the first one. More items like weapons and armor would be good as well. I think they could definitly add a little more to the story like a cutscene once in a while. Looks really good though!
I'll be honest that was one of the best announcement trailers I've seen. As for Demon's Souls I thought it was a great game. Don't get me wrong it had it's faults but for a first installment in a series it was amazing. I'm hoping that in Dark Souls there will be more places to explore because I am getting frustrated visting the same five worlds over and over but that's completely fixable for Dark Souls. I'd also like to see more armor in the game because I thought there was a good amount of weapons in the game but it felt like there wasn't enough choices for armor. As for the difficulty I like it where it is. For the first time in awhile I feel really challenged to beat a game (which I still haven't done lol). Sure it's brutal and unrelenting and frustrating as hell but that's what makes it soo great, and if Dark Souls is anything less than that I'll be extremely disappointed. Honestly can't say I've ever been soo excited to play a game that makes me want to throw my controller and swear like a sailor lol.
wow demon souls. not to say tht is a bad thing demon souls was a fun game. even though i could only play it for a half hour at a time..... any longer and i would be out a tv lol. but heres hopein they make it a little bit easier.
Yawn. I don't see the appeal of Demon's Souls. I play games to relax, enjoy myself, see what kind of crazy stuff I can do, and experience a cinematic narrative. I get none of these from Demon's Souls. I don't play games to get kicked in the balls for hours on end.
looks cool
Looks like there'll be an improvement in combat compared to Demon's Souls. Hopefully it doesn't make things easier.
Oh, about going multi platform I wouldn't sweat. From Software did a terrific job with DS in the PS3. They have good experience with the Sony console and probably it has been first developed for it, like SE did with FF XIII...
Buying it the first day but still it is a clone of Demon's Souls. Which has been a great game, so no complain.
When I say sequel, I mean sequel in concept and gameplay, not in story. Just to make things clearer for the people that will take that phrase a bit too literally. It is like a sequel at heart.
@-XSasukeX- It isn't like the first game will suddenly disappear from playstation just because it's sequel is going to be doing duel consoles. I, for one, am really glad about this. I have been telling my xbox buddies about the first game for years, and now I can play the new one with them!
Hopefully it will be every bit as epic as the first game. This is one of the few times where I can say I hope the sequel doesn't change too much. The first game already is near perfect in my book.
Amazin stuff, i hope they still have tricks up their sleeves. Also i hope the game isn't going to be rated T
I want this but I can barely get past the first part of demon souls. That game is humbling. haha
@-XassukeX- *cough* Mass Effect *cough*
Love the look of this! ope the aren't any combos. I. Hate. Combos. The bane of my life!
[This message was deleted at the request of the original poster]
@ -XSasukeX- dude, the company makes more money by putting a game out on both consoles. It's just common sense.
@-XSasukeX- awwww look at the little baby all upset r u going to cry?
AND AGAIN A PLAYSTATION GAMES GOES TO XBOX 360
Yes the interview states that it is not a sequel due to a new locale, story, etc. But they also state they were surprised by how well received Demon's Souls was, and while they didn't want to make a true sequel to it was because they wanted to change/alter it to make a more fulfilling experience. I believe it was at TGS last year when the teaser trailer was shown, someone from either Namco Bandai or From Software said that if you liked Demon's Souls, this game is for you. Yes it is not a sequel by standard definition, yet in the eyes of the fans it is going to be more of what we loved from Demon's Souls.
@sMeAgOl_VaDeR haven't seen the interview but what you said sounds like a sequel to me
Hate to disappoint but it's not a sequel guys. Check out the interview if you need proof. Different story, gameplay's a bit different, and it's gonna get tougher.
I knew this was a sequel as soon as I saw the way the character walked with armor! Unmistakable

By wikipedia for the people comparing it to Demon souls.... upcoming video game being co-developed by From Software and Namco Bandai Games. It was previously developed under the codename Project Dark and is unrelated to Demon's Souls. Dark Souls is planned for release on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 by the end of 2011. " Even thought the game is supposed to be successor to demon souls." OH and for the people that thought demon souls was hard this game is supposed to be 'significantly harder' than Demon souls...
@SILENTWRAITH234 ITS A SEQUEL
