Pendent gift? What does it do?

The cure all status and heal one sounds good and so does the masterkey but the pendent is driving me nuts because i dont know what its for. The mystery of the gift has sold me on its value so im going with it. If anyone finds out though please let me know.

It summons Sephiroth into your game in the form of a random encounter.
But the downside is that every loading screen is now an advertisement for his personal brand of shampoo and conditioner.

The referenced wiki says it has no special meaning and can be redeemed for items now?

It can be traded for a certain item with a certain NPC and supposedly it also has a major spoilerific storyline impact.

It's the supposed spoilerific storyline impact that's yet to enumerated (or even confirmed). Also, despite all items being available in-game (aside from key..), I haven't heard of anyone finding the pendant yet (well, unless I misread something).

That can't be the main focus of the Pendant, as that trade is reminiscent of the fail path for the Jade Ornament.

I'm inclined to agree. There's still the question of where it's found in-game too.
