- Feb 22, 2012 2:04 am GMTHow amazing would that be. Or even better yet an online RPG on a smaller simpler scale. Something along the lines of the original PSO.
- Feb 22, 2012 2:08 am GMTI cringe at the thought.

I'd settle for another Souls game period. GET ON IT FROM, sure I'm not done with this one but you can't deny more Souls would be better.

I'll just have to get a full apology from you later.
RARITYCATCHME. - Feb 22, 2012 8:52 am GMTMMOs really need to die off, it was a novelty when WoW came out, but the whole idea is so pretentious. Having said that, if it did involve Dark Souls I would be inclined to check it out.

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. - Feb 22, 2012 8:59 am GMTEver since WoW started catering to casuals it went downhill, there was a golden period between release and I believe the end of Burning Crusade where they didn't just hand you loot for bashing your head off a keyboard. Also it wasn't that raiding was difficult, it was kind of like a Dark Souls fight, learn the abilities of the boss and learn to defend against or dodge them. It was relying on other incompetent people who made wipes. That's why I like Dark Souls, if I fail it's because I was the one who fudged up.
In WoW, you could be hitting everything perfectly and some dolt who fudges up gets the whole group killed. Suffice to say I don't play WoW any more, haven't for at least... 6 months. I don't see why they need to die off though, they do spawn some elitist jerks but sometimes you meet cool people, hell questing with some of my friends is one of the best times I've had. What's pretentious about it?

RARITYCATCHME. - Feb 22, 2012 9:07 pm GMTA game like Dark Souls...
Only the size of the area you explore is as big as Skyrim. Only with no copy/pasted dungeons and enemies. All unique.
It would be obnoxious to ask of that from From. But I sometimes dream about an amazing game like that.

Yes in a way... just be glad there isn't a bar at the bottom with a ton of squares for skills that take up half your screen.

You cant have forest members being summoned to peoples world who are invading the forest
Darkwraiths cannot be summoned by Way of White members
Gravelords (yes im biased as the Gravelord leader of this forum
) need to be fixed.
Darkmoon Blades need to have an easier time invading. Needs to change from guilty list to anything on the guilty list AND any darkwraith.
Then you have the whole problem of connections and bosses.
The only part of this game that MMO would compliment is PvP. and right now. Trying to imagine a 10 on 10 battle in dark souls brings both tears of joy and fear.

Well, I don't think anybody wants to see the gameplay style change from its current awesome state into generic wow type combat. And furthermore, I suppose a Dark Souls MMO could be good - but as I said, in a way it already is an MMO, and I personally don't feel the need to make it more MMO than it already is.
Just give us Dark Souls 2!

I can read your minds what little there is. I know what all humans think. Nothing's changed in 1800 years. You can't be saved. -Orochi, KOF97 - Feb 25, 2012 2:03 pm GMTthe trick is, nowadays, i believe.. is to make an MMO withou tit feeling like a generic mmo...
Little boxes filling up your HUD with skills... Thats a PC design.. for mouse users..
For consoles... A press of the dpad can sort thru skills.. no need for a million things on the HUD.. in fact.. no HUD at all... other then maybe a hp/mp bar...
The world has to be larger.... You have to feel running into ppl is rare.. like 2 heroes, each on their own journeys... then after a while you run into someone.. and then you can join up if you want... Most mmo's bunch ppl up so much its 30 ppl on your screen at once, or at the start area. Also parties of up to 2 or 3 only.. no more. This way we still get that single player feel. I feel this best suits the Souls series. To party up, you either, journey out like in single player mode and finally run into ppl, or start in a party of 2 or 3.
Multiple start zones. The beginning of DSouls you start in Undead Asylum jail cell. Another start zone would be very far away tho, like Lost Izalith. Yeah no different from any other MMO, but the difference here would be when you start your character, you don't get to choose... it randomly places you (or your party of 2-3) at one of the least populated start areas. Getting from Lost Izalith to out of Blighttown can be quick for the experienced player, so again, areas would have to be much larger.. so it feels like more of a journey... Also more enemies along the way. I would really like to preserve its single player feel... so for that.. there would be other hidden start locations... so if any of the main start locations have more then a few ppl... you would start far off, in a less populated area.. like the painted world, or the tomb of the giants... Again.. larger/longer areas.. along with more areas.. would help in this department... Lost Izalith and the painted world are higher lvl areas.. we wouldnt start at higher lvl areas.. but the point being they are very far apart.. and require alot of journeying to get to the other side of the world... Again more areas, and larger areas are a must... There would have to be less shortcuts... they work great for single player, but not so great for mmo.. unless they are also very long routes.. compared to the REALLY long way. You don't change much of the rest of the game... you want it to keep its DS feel.
No teleporting.. no fast travel of any kind... that ruins immersion... imo.. and helps create packed zones... Dungeons would NOT be instanced, tho boss rooms would be instanced.
There would be no PvP.. there would have to be a seperate Arena for 1v1-3v3 or any combination within. You can get teleported to the Arena from any Bonfire. This way there isn't 50 ppl all hanging out near the Arena all the time. Also there would be a 3 fight maximum, and after that, you must go out, and fight for a predetermined amount of time, before your allowed back in. Or perhaps acquire an Arena token item.
Continued... - Feb 25, 2012 2:04 pm GMTTake WoW for instance...It would be large like that. Tho it would be much harder for 50 ppl to all huddle in Stormwind city. Unless your in a party of 2 or 3... You are not allowed to come into contact with another human or hollow(or party)... a 2-3 minute timer would set and after which ppl would get marked and warped to far random places in the land. You would become unmarked if you get far enough away from one another. This would not take into affect in the Arena. Random items could be found throughout the world which when used would allow you to spend time with a hollow or human(or another party) for a period of time. If your on a quest.. you take a minute or 2, then get going on your way.. no dillydallying... Form xbox live party chats for anything other then your in game 2-3 man party. Or talk for 2 minutes then be on your way.
Just some ideas.. what do ya think.. the goal is to make the game an mmo without losing it's single player feel. The game does a good job of making you feel lonely in this world. It would take a long journey to meet up with ppl.. Again.. I can't stress enough how large the world would have to be.. many more areas... - Feb 25, 2012 2:07 pm GMTXxzMayhemzxX posted...

there is no chance that we could have a seamless world in this game
every area would need to be instanced. like in guild wars
this game lags in blighttown with one person

well yeah blighttown could be a real problem in that case... tho i think the rest of the game would be ok...
Ppl or parties wouldnt be allowed to crowd together... well they could be in the same area together.. but if they get too close... the marked affect would take place.. and all parties would get whisked away... man that would possibly set up some real player greiving... ppl purposely following ppl.. lol i'm sure theres a fix for that... just don't feel like brainstorming about it right now.
As far as Blighttown... not sure why they don't release some sort of patch which introduces some sort of fog or something.. that could conceptually cover the long lines of sight, thereby fixing blighttowns lag issue... Idk.. im no game developer.. nor graphics afficiando... just a theory... - Feb 25, 2012 5:47 pm GMTHonestly, I would rather see Dragon's Souls, Deadra Souls, or Derpy Souls.
Because after Demon and Dark, we all know it's going to be another D.
